I used to work with Mrs Minchellas son a real diamond of a bloke as it happens and the St bernard dog I think belonged to a guy called Chris Wright.Seem to recall him parading it around the pitch sometimes with a Palace shirt on.

The dog by the way not Chris Wright

Blimey, that's a name from the past. I rember him well , especially from away games. I once bumped into him in Copenhagen for some reason he arrived at half time. me and my mates were there to support kenny Sansom and see his debut for the u23's. Could write book about trip!!!

Is he still on the go?

Couldn't tell you nowadays.Joyce the voice anyone ?

Chris Wright, Always travelled to away games by train, had a bugle and wore a waistcoat covered with metal badges of football league teams also liked a pint or two or three before, during and after games. Yes I remember him well.

Yep, he was also emblazoned across the tabloids supporting England (cant remember which WC, possibly Spain 82) as the 'Prat in the Hat'

Another reason to hate Noades!!!

Grrrrrr

I mostly remember Saturday afternoons. I used to like to get to games early and park in Dagmar Road by the garages. On the way to the ground I would buy a hotdog or burger and the programme. I would get a bovril inside the ground and sit on the steps of the holmesdale about half way up to the left of the goal as you look at the pitch. I would read the programme and wait for the peanut bloke to come near and chuck me a bag which would last till about half time. He would collect his money a few minutes after he chucked them to you...a tanner a bag!
On the way home we'd go to purley where the girlfriend lived and maybe have a few pints in the Wattenden Arms in Old Lodge Lane near the Kenley Airdrome - Is it still there? The landlord was a bit of a posh tw*t with a handlebar moustache and there was a big propeller above the bar.
Later on we'd go to coulsdon for a chinky and quite often would see Jimbo Cannon in there and have a chat.
Those were the days my friend...I wished they'd never end (truely)
It all seems so clear and better than any experiences I ever have today.

You can still see Joyce going to games, I saw her last season in the AW, Mind you this year she wont be impressed with the club! She has alway bought two season tickets ever since her Hubby was killed by a scum bag hit and run driver! simply because she couldn't bear anyone sitting in his seat!bless her.
Now the away fans are situated where she used to sit!

She is one of my first memories of selhurst park, i was taken to games by my dad, grandad and uncle, my grandad used to spread his mac on the grass where the arthur waite stand is now and i used to spend most of the match eating the peanuts and ficking through the programme i must have been only 4 or 5 years old so it must have been late 50s. Cant believe i have been going that long !!
