The '79 Burnley game.

I'd been to a 1-1 draw with Sunderland before but this was my 2nd game & it was the one that hooked me. The size and noise of the crowd was immense. 52,000, when you think about it now it seems unreal, I'm not sure what the official capacity of Selhurst was at that time but we were crammed in.

I can still picture Hilaire crossing to Walsh (who my dad had been slating all night as the weak link) Walsh nodding it in, the net bulging as cameras flashed from behind the goal. The ground went absolutely bananas.

I'm sure that I must have stood there on my little box that I used to stand on with my mouth open. It's wasn't really your average experience as a 9 year old from Upper Norwood

We've gotta protect our phoney baloney jobs.

If the meaning is in terms of pivotal moments for palace then finishing 3rd and not getting into europe was one (I hate the scousers to this day for that) and the other one was relegation as the fourth team with 49 points in 92-93 that set our fate as a yo-yo club for the next few years. If we played both of those cards right I'd say we'd be a West Ham sized club by now, but I think fate has decreed that we stay the size we are.

too far gone.. aint no way back

Too many to mention. The obvious ones - 1st ever promotion to Div 1 (1969), to the Prem on that fantastic night against Burnley. But also visions of Dave Burnside covered in mud arms aloft after scoring against Forest in 1965 during our cup run to 6th round. Aaahh so many many great moments.

I remember all of that so well. Queuing up on Sunday mornings for the Forest and Leeds tickets in that 1965 cup run. Beating Derby away on the run in to promotion in 1969 and that 3-2 win against Fulham to take us up in 1969 - all wonderful memories!

Obviously the 69 promotion season is the most profound moment but I think missing out on the European Cup in 91 thanks to the FA,has to be up there as well.
But my first key moment was the 1957/58 season when we finished 14th in the 3rd Div,Sth,so we were in the bottom half of the table and were therefore demoted to the first ever 4th Division.

........................Then along came Johnny Byrne! and the rest, as they say, is history.....................

The queuing for tickets - I remember getting to the ground at 6am & the line already went half way around the ground

I wasn't going to games then - my first game was the latter half of season 59/60.

5-0 against burnley to make sure of a play-off position of which we lost both legs to BCFC. In particular, Ben watsons penalty to put us 1-0 ahead within about 10 minutes.

truly awesome day.

forever palace.
