Good little read. I personally am looking forward to reading his book. I don't. Lame him totally for what happened. He was naive, egotistical to an extent, but ultimately paid for his silly mistakes.

The fact that he doesn't even look for our results confirms what I already knew about this creature.
George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....? |

Sad little man, perhaps listening to those with more experience he'd still be chairman.

Thanks for posting that up redandblue4life, good read. Intriguing little swipe at CPFC2010: “I wish Crystal Palace fans and the club itself every success. I cannot say it extends to other people involved.” Wonder whether he elaborates in his book? I have to say that the interview just confirms what i felt about SJ right through his time with us, that it was always more about him than the club. Action packed as it may have been having him as chairman, ultimately it created a lot of ill feeling towards Palace, making life harder for us in so many ways, and it was only a matter of time before someone put him - and therefore the club - to the sword.

SJ spoke a lot of sense. The article sums-up his tenure at Palace
cannot think of anything profound, witty, or pseudo-intellectual to put here. fck it! |

The fact that he doesn't even look for our results confirms what I already knew about this creature. Why would he? He is probably heartbroken and looking at the results is a reminder that he is no longer involved with the club, He wished the Club and Fans well, What more do you want. He put everything he had into the club and lost it.Have you forgotten where we were after Goldberg?. SJ was a very arrogant man which was probably his downfull and probably why people wanted to screw him over rather than help in when he needed it. To lose all your money on your life's passion and then be hated, Mocked, Whatever by morons would cause most people to blank out that part of your life and thats probably what SJ does on a Saturday at 4.45.

************************************************ “Once it has gone, you suddenly find yourself not having anything to do on Saturdays. Once leaving, you are forgotten. I don’t dwell on Palace’s results. At 4.45pm I am not looking to see how they get on. “I am not bitter. It is just not part of my life anymore. Everything I had at Palace has gone and I have nothing left to give. I don’t see any point to pay more interest in what is going on at Crystal Palace than I would compared to a theatre show I liked. “The one thing I do miss is not having a voice in football.” (The Sun) ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME. ************************************************ He was offered financial input from a few rich supporters. I know SW16 Girl knows more on this. I read it some time ago on the BBS. It may not have been at the valuation he always had in mind, but when you run a football club into the ground because you stretched its outgoings and drove its casual or non-season ticket fans away, why would they pay you what you want, just because it's what you've put in/lost? With regard to his business ventures since mobile phones, none of them are money making businesses because they're things people dabble in or get 'roped' into investing in without doing their homework or knowing what they're doing. In property specifically he would've been better off just waiting for the next house market crash, not getting excited because there's Spanish property going up all over the place and he might miss out. Films? Silly. The restaurant business? A guaranteed way to lose money if you or the manager don't know what you're doing. You can't take away his ambition for his local club but his manner with people in the game didn't do us many(any?) favours. I think the nature of mobile phones and his business model says a lot there. The industry has very poor customer services and his business model was alleged on here to be "Sell 'em cheap and tie 'em into very expensive longer-term contracts."

Top bloke is Jordan. Spoke a lot of sense about the game in general and gave a lot more to Palace than most of his critics. And just like Goldberg... we drained him dry. Looking forward to his book.

I've still got a huge amount of time & respect for the guy... he single-handedly saved us and kept us afloat for the best part of a decade. When it comes to SJ, people seem to forget that everybody makes mistakes.

Of course things may have been different if we survived the Prem but when you look at that, he spent loads of money trying to get back there but didn't invest enough in staying there when we were.
