Apparently they also have a one year transfer embargo levelled on them (the start date is in dispute, as whether its immediate on transfer, or after the window closes). that could well prove problematic in terms of 'automatic promotion' with players deserting the sinking ship. Think it begins Oct 2013 instead of Sep 2012. Can't believe the SPL are trying to blackmail the SFL for the TV rights to Rangers games. They are threatening to withdraw the £2m payments agreed for originally splitting from the SFL. I can, its what 'premier leagues are all about' money, not the game, or interests in the game, but their cut. With Rangers out for two or three seasons, theres no 'prime broadcast' but tough titty, they're no longer premier league, and thus shouldn't be covered by the SPL contract.
Well yes but actually its a little different really. All the clubs (exept Palace and Reading) originally voted for the EPPP as a rider to getting more money. The blakcmail to cut funding came when all the clubs realised they'd sold their soul and tried to find a way to avoid ratifying the EPPP. As disgusting and greedy and appalling as the Premiership is the League clubs are the ones who screwed themselves over.

I might be a little slow here but I thought Rangers were being liquidated, if thats the case surely any deal they may have with the media dies with the demise of the club. The new club is not or can not be Glasgow Rangers.
As Glasgow Rangers is no more, and are no longer in the SPL, surely as the agreement is part of the SPL's package any club for what ever reason falling out of the SPL would surrender the Media rights, pretty much the same as the Premier League. Thats just the way I see it, others may have other ideas!

Which is what they're trying to do, threatening them with withdrawel of previously agreed funds if they don't comply.

Absolutely, Rangers were relegated and replaced by Dundee. On the plus side, Scotish league 2 TV rights look quite profitable all of a sudden. This is the problem with the SKY Deals, they're not in the interests of football.

East Fife clearly made a mistake putting out their reserve team, including Tim McTimmy the baker boy, in what was a pre-season warm up for the SL2 Giants.

In a way it's relatively exciting for Rangers to be playing different teams. The way that they played Celtic 6 times a year was just getting boring.
