Apparently Baxter has signed for sheff Wednesday on a three year deal and been loaned out to tranmere for the whole of next season, source?the BBS.

Wot no trial??!!

don't no if he had a trial at wednesday Chris, funny his fit enough to join them, maybe we should the six million doller man,i hear he can run pretty fast.

If we were spoilt for choice I could maybe understand this - the fitness thing for me is barmy. He's young, he has no history of injuries, he's over weight and needs to limber up - but he can play football. Is getting JB fit really that difficult?

well Dougie seems to think so,btw was'nt Gazza a bit overweight?he could play a bit.

Obviously there is a different level of fitness required for 2nd tier football compared to 3rd tier football but I see what you mean. The only explanation I can think of is that DF doesn't want to add more players to the squad who aren't going to play. We won't find out till at least another year whether the right decision has been made now.

I think the point of this is that a team like Sheffield Wednesday, big gates and an owner who isn't reluctant to run up significant debt, can take any gamble they want.

If people imagine CPFC is a car - there are some spaces available but we have to make sure that if someone takes up space (this is not a fat joke, just a hasty analogy) then they better be worth that space as nobody else can get in it.

If someone rolls up alongside that car with a minibus, then they can be a lot less choosy about who they offer the seats to.

It looks like Baxter will go into their development squad and perhaps a year loan somewhere, it seems the majority of fans thought Baxter would jump straight into our midfield and be a sensation.

I think DF didn't think he would cut it in the starting 11 right off and with the midfielders we have coming through the academy/youth set-up though there was no point in shelling out wages that would, no doubt, be higher than our homegrown talent who may well prove better than him. That's just my view on it and what the truth is only DF knows.

Money Money Money

Yes I think you are right mate!. We don't know what Baxter wanted cash wise and I think Doogie's comment about fitness was a smoke screen to cover up the fact we just could not afford his asking price. Its alright for Wednesday ,they will just borrow some more.

For me, the biggest issue is not that we didn't sign him but how long it took to decide that we wouldn't. He used up valuable pre-season match time that someone else could've utilised.

So we supposedly have a further £40k pw to put into wages..and that was before we sold & got rid of several players. So we won't take Baxter due to fitness..well what the fcuk did our half time talk consist of?A bargain bucket and a hamper from Greggs. The whole situation is a complete and utter mess and if the club are playing it all cloak and daggers when they tell us it's fitness or lack of it but really it may be wages - well what a fcuked up way of running things! This isn't Man U signing RVP it's Palace signing an out of contract(is he isn't he?) youngster!!!Sort it bloody out.

Clowns and bandits,

As we are now nearly at deadline day and we have had the benefit of seeing how how we fare with what we've got. And we're going to struggle in my view, so let's go back to Jose and see if we can cut a deal, because he looked like he could play.

We have had players on trial before, and moved them on because in the words of the Manager at that time they were not up to the mark!!!

Two come to mind, Jay Bothroyd, & Ricardo Fuller, when I get the time to think of more, I bet the list is endless.

Didn't Liam Bridcutt get the scum's Player of the season award in the season we rejected him on trial?

Fuller played league matches for us & was totally inept. There were generally more air shots per match than I manage playing golf. At the time we were all glad to see the back of him. No-one at the time would hav guessed what he might achieve in time.
