A Charlton "friend" of mine on Facebook posted a status a little while ago saying that "something catastrophic was around the corner" regarding Charlton and their financial future. He mentioned a thread on Charlton Life, I don't have time to check out all 600+ posts but I believe all the details are in this thread... Does anyone else know more about this? Personally, since he reveled in our demise, I wouldn't shed a tear.

Would not surprised, weren't they in trouble a couple of years back, something like £20m in debt, and 2-3 years in Div1 can't have helped their finances to recover that.

Unfortunately can't see anything happening to the Clowns financially. They have 5 or 6 directors and benefactors who don't mind shedding a personal million each each every couple of years. Bit like us really.
When i see him, it's gonna be painful. Skinny little cont. |

He's an english World Cup winner. The Republic of Ireland should show a little respect and gratitude for what he did for them and give him a decent pension. Has he already flogged his medal?

Jack is older than Bobby surely? He has always looked it.
Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link] |

Still signing players, but word is that their expected investment has not arrived and will not arrive. A lot I think will depend on how they start - but I don't think they would be a in a position to turn down bids on their better players if the info is right.

I seem to have heard during the past couple of years that the Clowns have some financial skeletons in a firmly locked cupboard. The Clowns never seem to progress but at the same time they do not go completely under, must be some kind of black magic around the Charlton area. I always had an open mind with regard to The Clowns until Dowie and a certain Mr. Murray got togethere then I took a different look at our friends down the road and now I do not like them. Hopefully we will give them a real pounding both home and away next season.
