Sadly Charlton fans never grow up. They still hate us for kindly allowing them to play at Selhurst rather than a park pitch. You lot never learn. You gave us a ground to play in, well done but: 1) You charged us and made a massive profit out of us This is a no brainer, I don't think you seem to grasp the fact that your club had the better deal when we were ground sharing. What makes me laugh is the fact you expect us to sit on our knees and say Thank you when you charged us a hefty amount that was a welcome addition to your club and Ron Noades. I would not expect your club to want us to ground share, but the income was so huge, it would have wipped off some of your debts. The fact remains is, if your club decided to move out of Selhurst for whatever reason and moved to the Valley, we would have charged you a hefty amount as well. Football is a business and any club welcomes a profit and I can imagaine Charlton would welcome your club to rent the Valley, as long as you pay us. No way we would expect you to appreciate it though. Edited by DiscoCafc (12 Sep 2012 11.44pm) (Whoops, edited instead of quoting - H) Edited by Hambo (13 Sep 2012 9.54am)
As for hating us before that, I know an enormous amount of charlton fans and this is their number one reason for hating palace, for most it is the only reason, (perhaps if your right then it would do charlton fans some good to learn their clubs history) The one other thing that really pisses off a majority of charlton fans is that no one sees them as a no.1 rival, millwall and palace look elsewhere and that makes Charlton fans feel inferior. Personally I find it all pathetic, I have no bad feeling towards charlton, in fact its a nice club and as I've said before the thing about them is no other fans I speak to have anything to say about them good or bad, to me that's boring but then again thats why I didn't chose to support them as a child when the opportunity was there.
we're the Arthur, we're the Arthur, we're the Arthur over here! Positive! Proud & Palace - W block, AW |

I've had this debate with you before and explained the deal. It was Noades that owned Selhurst Park stadium back then and he was charging CPFC rent to play there. You came along and negotiated with Noades (not CPFC) to play at Selhurst. If the rent he set was too high for your pathetic club then that is a matter between your club and him. What has CPFC got to do with it? We didn't have any debts back then, in fact we were doing so well that Noades started to cream off income from our club. You are right we didn't want you there. It took years of scrubbing with Ajax and Brut to get rid of the stench of you Pikeys. Maybe we should Thank Ron Noades then according to most of you. Nice to know your history, perhaps most other fellow Palace fans should read your post then they might learn something from it.

I trust that we will be taking a banner along tomorrow saying: Kelvin McKenzie is a low life scum and death is too good for him..... Just a bit of harmless banter. It's just an opinion, and i'm sure we can make an apology 23 years later if it turns out he was actually a decent human being all along.
