Was just wondering if anyone knows, was that disallowed goal last night actually offside or not ? Which part of the body plays someone onside ? Say for instance if only a defenders pointing arm is in front of the attackers body is he playing him onside ?

Any part of the body you can play the ball with, in which case Darcy Blake's head would have kept him onside I believe. Arms don't keep people onside.

What does it matter, at last a poor decision goes in our favour instead of against us. Don't get me wrong, I do not condone poor decisions by officials, but in the real world human error is a fact of life. Lets just enjoy the fact that Charlton for all their endeavours created virtually nothing in the 90 mins, where as Palace created far more, and their keeper was busier than Speroni.

Two further points to consider. Look at the Charlton player who is offside when the kick is taken. Watched it a number of times and if we are going to have replays I think offside would be given. Secondly a player on the ground could/ should be considered inactive. In the same way a returning or injured striker isn't offside when the attacking team play a ball through. Great result. Slaughtered them first half. Scored and held on. Team, management and fans were awesome.

Don't get me wrong, if anyone deserved the 3 points it was us, but it was by no means clear cut and most times that game would'e been a draw with us holding out for 1 point at the end. We edged it, just.

We had a penalty given, then taken away against Wednesday, the Clowns had a 'goal' disallowed.

We edged it, just. In 97 mins that was all, like I said that is virtually nothing for a whole game, Palace created many more clear cut chances than that. In the first half apart from the easy save in injury time from the freekick Speroni had very little to do apart from taking goalkicks, the only thing that worried me, was the defences inability to cut out centres decisively and far too often their attack was given free headers, the stats speak for themselves 17 attemps only 6 on target, 44% possession, 2 corners, hardly domination, and to add to that only 38% of play was in our third of the pitch, 17% centrally, and 45% of the game was played in Charltons last third.

The point being made I think is that like everyone else refs make mistakes, most usually go against us, but for once it went in our favour.

it was offside but dont think you could expect the linesman to see the player on the floor when other players were in front of him...tis about time we got some luck....
