I definitely shared your excitement, Lifelongpalace, whenever The Bald Eagle was in possession of the ball. And I went to his debut game up at Goodison too. A truly magical player and as Palace was the only english team he played for, I'll never forget his words on Channel 4's Italian football show shortly after he joined Lazio. He was genuinely sad at leaving and humble enough to acknowledge the impact he'd made in SE25 even though the club was in a right old mess at the time.
My best memory was about 20 minutes into our home game against Liverpool, we were all over them and Lombardo had players snapping at his heels trying to win back the ball. It seemed he was properly in a dead-end against the touchline but calm as you like he looked one way and delivered a perfectly weighted back-heeled pass to Padovano. Pure class!
