At what point do we start looking for a Zaha replacement? The inevitable will happen either in January or next summer if we don't go up. If we do go up then we'll probably have him for a season in The Prem. So the maximum we'll probably have him is for another 18 months at the most. We don't want to be caught cold and have nobody lined up to replace him. Obviously we won't find anyone as good - but somebody with the potential to be as good is probably out there somewhere. I guess in short, should preperations for Zaha's departure already be put into action and if not when? For every Ian Wright there is a Marco Gabbiadini which for those that remember was a complete panic buy which we wouldn't want a repeat of. Edited by Benjamin2011 (15 Oct 2012 12.00pm)

No. Panic buys won't happen - Have you heard our manager and board talk? Plus, Wilf is going no where.

At what point do we start looking for a Zaha replacement? When he retires aged 33 and we have just won our fourth consecutive Champions League.

Albert Adomah at Bristol. Similar player Would cost a fortune I reckon, they really rate him there. I highly doubt Freedman and Co will take all the money from Zaha sale and splash on one or two players. Will probably spend on a few players to strengthen overall squad.

Saw something this morning that Dougie is looking to integrate Kyle De Silva more between now and the end of the season, plus he's expecting more from Jonny Williams - I suspect rather than panic buy, DF will look to bring one of these two in as a replacement if/when it happens

He's not leaving. Why are we so determined to create a self-fulfilling prophesy? We have every right to have players of his calibre, so we should drop this idea that he's destined to leave ASAP.

This is a very good thread in my view. It's a question that no doubt Freedman has already started to think of on the quiet. Unless we get promoted this season that is.....As long as we don't sell him in January I accept that we will lose him. Let's enjoy seeing him this season....This season is special in a sense because it's probably the last one where we get to see the talents of Zaha and Williams playing in the same side. Not since Hilaire has a Palace player caused such expectation on the ball. Lombardo was exciting but in a different way. I wish I could think of someone to replace him! He can't really be replaced in truth. Still, we could hopefully still find a pacy winger with a good cross on them.

I think they'll wait to see how the season progesses. If we are able to possibly get promoted, then I think he'll stay with us while we're in the Premiership. Similar to AJ. Anyhow, we have plenty of talent coming through the ranks at the moment. Zaha has become the talent he is today over the last season or so (since Moses left). Another talent will come off the production line soon. For now, let just enjoy the ride we're on now and worry about him leaving when it happens (which I think won't happen till the Summer). Leave the management to worry about that.
Keep the Faith. The Premiership will come again, even though the Championship is where the 'real' football is. |
