This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ashley Cole' by Moose Funny enough " Always" I was watching SSN this morning and thinking just them same thing. We need a left back As already stated on another thread about him, I think his salary could be an issue. However, he did enjoy his loan spell from Arsenal all those years ago. It may well be that he would like to stay local and finish of his career in London and hopefully with us.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ashley Cole' by Moose We have two things on our side - 1) he has played for us before and 2) we are a London club - he wouldn't have to relocate. However neither of those is going to detract from the fact we are never going to meet his wage demands - he'd probably get more money retiring from football and coaching the Chelsea youth team. Secondly given the list of clubs that are interested in him who could offer him realistic chances of adding to his trophy list, he is never going to pick us. If we had a nut job owner we might have a bit more of a chance, fortunately our owner is too sensible to offer the sort of wages he'd need to come to palace.

Nice idea - could cover the LB slot for a season (I think one of our weak areas) but in all honesty I don't think it's going to happen.

Would love to see Ashley Cole come in and be a our regular left back. World class left back and during his peak, undoubtly in the top 3 left backs in the world. Obviously wages being a huge issue and meaning this deal probably won't happen unless he's willing to take at least a 50% paycut I'd imagine.

Huge wages, European football and tax free living in the sun at Monaco; or a fraction of the disposable income among the wet and windy concrete canyons of Croydon? A toughy... I suppose it depends on how much he wants to stay in London, how much money he already has, whether he would be content with domestic football and would he rather play in the Premier League. Obviously I would love it.
