It wasn't just that. They p*ssed the north sea oil money up the wall. And they flogged off everything from british airways to the gas and water and blew the proceeds on a massive house price boom (which then bust). Before that they let most of British industry go to the wall in the 1979-81 recession, in the name of monetarism. Before that there was the civil war between the government and the unions which meant we needed an IMF bailout while the likes of Germany and Italy overtook us.

We've been in decline for donkeys years, mate, the bankers were just the latest muppets in a long line.

I noted in a report over the weekend that will affect approx. 600,000 people. No chance 420,000 of those will be disabled as was intimated.

They also specifically exclude those that have an overnight carer from these changes.

It'll cost more to administer than it will save and be a PR nightmare waiting to happen (when the inevitable lawsuits occur over 'fostered occupants').

Unrealistic, and unpractical, it looks like a 'tough on benefits' gesture to get the panties of the right wing wet.

Good to see the commons scrap the spare room subsidy for those disabled or with children. Twas a nasty law from a nasty party.
Methinks the liberal party are aligning themselves with labour because they don't think the Tory cunds have a chance in the next election.
