In fact, the latest figures show that the national debt is actually rising. Since the Coalition was formed, public sector net debt has expanded from £811.3bn (55.3 per cent of GDP) to £1,111.4bn at the end of December 2012 (70.7 per cent of GDP). The Office for Budget Responsibility has also forecast that public sector net debt will continue to increase and the Government’s target to get it declining by 2015-16 will not be met.

What a great debate. Is a politician/political figure a liar. Did Gordon Brown lie when pre 1997 he said we will not introduce university tuition fees (you can pick any one of your favorite brown lies). Did blair lie over Iraq (or just about everything). Did Major lie over curry (ewwww). Did Clegg lie over having a back bone. Did the vast majority of MP's lie over their expenses (a majority way over 300 and how many convicted?).

Shall we take it further and bring in political journalists, union leaders and unions in general. What about posters on the Hol who put so much spin on something that was or was not said by someone you cant tell if its fantasy or a lie.

Now the bit you linked to refers to a specific thing that Cameron said. "we are paying down the Britains debt's". Now if you take it literally it is clearly not true. Therefore he is a liar.

Inflation has risen dramatically since the Conservatives came to power therefore the debt has come down in real terms.
