Brighton fan's view on Palace whingers:

Oh My Goodness – the Nigels have not taken the 3-0 defeat well have they.

It would appear that Steve Parish has got himself embroiled in a public slanging match on Twitter again with Palace fans as he had the downright cheek to congratulate us on our win. This has led to the rehashing of an old argument with certain fans still furious at his treatment of Freedman. It’s descended into Parish asking other fans to grass up the Twitter bullies so he can set the force of the law on them and also ban them from Selhurst for life. Palace players have also got themselves in Twitter fest arguments about their commitment following the St Patricks Day Rout.

Holloway ,apparently, IS a West Country idiot- he got the tactics wrong - the substitutions wrong - he complained at getting his coat wet while thousands of Palace stood in the soaking wet in abject humiliation - he also dismissed the game as just another game and he doesn’t get the rivalry – Gus does! Fans are turning on fans on the internet as they argue about the defeat.

Some now say we aren’t their true rivals – others disagree. To the game itself – they bossed it until we scored ! we shouldn’t have scored – we are cheating diving injury feigning nancy boys – the ref gave everything to us – it rained – the pitch was wet which suited our hoof ball style – it shouldn’t have rained – it was the wrong rain – they got wet we didn’t.

Kuszczak should be arrested for inciting a riot – the vertical finger pointing Zaha of last week apparently forgotten – Williams ran the show – their fullbacks had bad games – Dikgacoi should never play for them again.

We never sang – they didn’t like our songs – we left early – they never leave early – the Palace who did leave early got held back by Police in the rain – The Police marched them too far aimlessly up & down Queens Road pre match – post match The Police made them stand on Falmer station in the rain – it was cold – it had puddles on it – it never rains in Croydon.

Meanwhile at the Selhurst beamback all was not well – apparently the score was the same as at the Amex – they didn’t like that –more people turned up than expected – a Selhurst first! - the picture quality was poor – the beer ran out – it was too expensive (£15) – the food was s***e – they lost 3-0.

And so it goes on and on – and to think we suffered a heartbreaking last minute 2-3 defeat at Withdean , the 5-0 & 3-0 defeats at Selhurst and the 1-3 Amex humiliation. We were upset and down but I don’t recall us turning on each other to this degree – some Clubs just don’t have any class.

Sadly enough he pretty much hit the nail on the head. We were s*** thats all there is to it. We move on and move forward and win against Birmingham and then up at blackpool. End of story.

What a few diehards get up to has nothing to do with the mass of Palace support.

It's a complete storm in a teacup.

I've never got the 'Brighton' thing. Charlton makes sense as they are local but never mind.

Some fans love to take it too far.....Those fans are found in every club. We tend to have less nutters than most.....Though unfortunately the number appears to be on the rise.

And there you have your answer, because we aren't used to losing to Brighton.

But it's done with, no need to dwell on it. 3 points off of second with 8 games to go. I'm excited anyway.

The history for the reason of the rivalry is not the 1976 cup match which is always trotted out as standard. It was certainly there at the August 1974 game at the Goldstone. That was the first time the clubs had met for 11 years and Palace had just dropped from the old 2nd Division to the 3rd.
One much more interesting theory is a turf war between small time gangsters from both areas dating from the 1920s, the decade the teams first played. Brighton races being one of the flash points.
Certainly a lot more interesting than the Mullery v Venables handbags affair in 1976.

absolutely. regardless of the bitterness of last weekend, we need to realize that we have by far the best fixture among those going for automatic promotion. we were on very good form recently, one defeat should not undo all of that effort. it is up to the players and IH to regain composure and confidence. it is up to us to fill Selhurst on the 29th of March.

This is somewhat ironic. A Palace fan living in Brighton ( well, Hove actually ) replying to a Brighton fan in Croydon.

I can't argue with much of what you said.

In terms of the game, I was just thinking how Palace had started to get on top and how we could step it up in the second half, and suddenly we are 0-2 down. We have won from that position before this season, but I didn't see us doing it on Sunday, and then to concede straight after the break finished it. No complaints, the better side won on the day.

Every club has it's minority of fans who react badly to losing this fixture. Your club has them as well - and if it had been the other way around on Sunday there would have been real pressure on Poyet. Your fans were already fast losing faith in him. To abuse players and our Chairman via the likes of Twitter is ridiculous when you consider we are still competing for automatic promotion.

Now, Holloway and his tactics on Sunday. After 42 minutes of the game, I didn't see a lot wrong. Some players were clearly not at their best , including Johnny Williams, but the 2 goals provoked Holloway into changing things too soon in my opinion. The thing with Williams is that he will play through a bad patch. I'm not convinced Holloway is that smart on the defensive side of the game, and our goals against suggest that to be the case.

True rivals ? Undoubtably. And lucky for you or you would have nobody. Personally, it's Charlton I've always had a passionate dislike for.

No class ? Rich coming from you. With few exceptions, all the BHA fans I know actually support Premier League clubs, but have jumped on the bandwagon with the new stadium and the possibility of seeing their REAL clubs play locally. And after living down here for 25 years, and being heavily involved in local football, I know plenty of football fans.
So maybe you didn't '' turn on each other '' after those defeats. But what medium did we have in 2002/3 ? - No Twitter that's for sure. No Facebook. And after the game at Selhurst in December, see my earlier point - not enough of your ' fans ' would care - more worried about Man U or Liverpool.
