I was excited by the fact that CPFC are, since IH mercifully left, 9th in the form table and wanted to share that rejoicing with fellow-CPFC fans who may not be aware how well we are doing.

This post is more pro-Pulis than anything else and is urging fans to back his team selections based on his remarkable run of results.

The continuing pro-Holloway lobby baffles me in the light of cold hard facts.

He took over the hottest team in the division, who were 2 points off top spot, to 15 points off the pace by season's end.

He ended the campaign with one win in ten and the team were abject in the first-leg against the scum.

Fortunately for him the best player in division, Zaha, caught fire in the next two games, bagging a brace and winning a penalty at Wembley.

IH's Premiership record this season proves, particularly in light of what Millen and Pules have done, that despite falling into promotion Holloway was one of the worst manager's we have ever had to endure.

Hi mate, I wasn't being pro-Holloway as such merely stating facts about this season.

We had a tough set of fixtures to start the season with way too many new players not knowing their roles in the team.

My opinion is that Pulis's tactics have been vastly better than Holloway's with the same group of players, but I do not see this as a reason to keep slating Holloway who ultimately did what was best for the club in stepping down - that is a very noble action.

Whenever I feel the need to exercise, I lie down until it goes away.

Fully agree with above post and explanation of Holloway tenure. Millen had the team playing well and TP has only continued that. TP is doing an excellent job but I would like to see a small further improvement before I will be optimistic about our season. To stay up we must at some point start to take the odd point off of top half teams.

They were discussing the relegation scrap on the radio at the weekend and saying how important the manager is in this respect, he can literally be the difference between staying up or going down. The general consensus was that out of the ten or so clubs involved we have the best manager equipped for the job and i tend to agree with them.

I would agree with that

And its good to see after their decent start the Hughes effect is well and truly working its magic at Stoke

I'll be a lot happier if we are still above the line after the Arsenal game. Confidence is building, we are in better shape than I thought we would be at this time in the season, but anything can happen. And it probably will.

I said this last season when IH joined, but he took the hardest job in football (maybe aside from the United post).

He took over from a Palace hero who had a team which was not expected to contend for promotion playing some of the best football we have seen with virtually every single player playing well.

He couldn't improve us, he couldn't gain respect for turning things around, if he kept us going it would have been down to DF, if we started slipping it would be IH's fault - it was a lose lose situation for him.

We limped across the line and I think we saw the best of IH in the playoffs when we were missing key players and he, to be fair, got it spot on and we went up.

He then has the next nightmare, trying to bring in players to cover for Zaha, FFS and strengthen the squad with (what sounded like) no infrastructure to do so in a sensible way (SP reviewing youtube videos of players...).

We ended up with a squad arguably weaker than the squad we finished last season with and to add to that the new faces and changes meant we lost that spirit we had.

Despite all that we put in some good performances and were very unlucky (Tottenham, away at ManU etc). He had lost the squad at this point and he was more gracious than 99% of managers by stepping aside rather than clinging on for £££.

If we stay up this season Pulis would have worked his magic, but equally had IH not been who he is someone else would have got to Pulis before us and a change may have come too late.

He may come across as a buffoon at times but he is a sharp bloke, knows his stuff and above all is as honest a bloke as you will find. He took a hard job despite it appearing easy and did an honest job and we owe him.

As for Pulis - I bow down to him for the way we are playing, but the real test is going to come in the form of the harder last quarter of the season - given how we played at City and Tottenham I have every faith in him pulling it out the bag.

This is an excellent summary of Ian Holloway's tenure at Palace.

Holloway is a c***. He regurly slanders palace in his columns and to the press. Insulted Pulis and the board and blamed everyone else because he cant cut it at premier league Level, Im sorry the guy is a clown as for his run of fixtures. Swansea, Fulham, Stoke, Bristol City, Spurs and lost them all we beat a ten man sunder land. I know he won promotion with us but he almost completely f***ed it.

Without any form of brown nosing, I think this is an excellent post. Balanced and true.

In what way did he insult Pulis?
Seems incredibly odd that he would insult his best mate, his best man from his marriage and the very man that he recommended to the Palace board as the one and only Prem manager that could save us.
I'm not being sarcastic when I ask this, just generally interested but are you aware Pulis and Holloway have been best mates since their early playing days?

He may be referring to when IH tongue in cheek said Pulis might of taken my house and car but he won't have my wife. He said it with a smile though .

The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace.

The "cold hard facts" are that Palace played different teams under different managers. Form tables count for nothing, other than to help with confidence of the most insecure(/stupid?) fans and players.
