Why does everyone keep looking at players and not at a team? You can collect the best players in the country, put them in a team and end up with mediocrity. Look at the England team as an example.

Wilbs may not be the greatest striker, but that does not mean that he can't be a member of a great strike force. He plays a part, and the parts add up to more than they would individually.

No offence, I like the guy and think in the absence of any better options he can do a job of sorts.

But I think Wilbs would be prevented from being a "member of a great strike force" by the lack of his ability to strike.

Aye, he couldn't strike in a union.

I know January is a month where people get depressed but I didn't realise you also lost your marbles

Wilbraham is just not good enough for Prem or Championship move on

I understand the point but it only considers the attacking impact on the system and not the defensive. In my opinion Jerome already does lead the line really well, but without being a serious goal threat. Wilbraham does the same and is less of a goal threat.

What we need up front is someone who can lead the line and convert more chances than Jerome. Not sure Gayle will have the physical presence and workrate to do so - so bringing someone in seems the bestoption - which is easier said than done perhaps.

I am all in favour of getting a great new striker in. I am also keen to get Murray back in firing in the goals like last season. I do like the Jerome/Chamakh combination even though it is a bit light on goals.

I am only suggesting the Gayle/Wilbraham combination as another alternative with the players that we have. We will get injuries and suspensions and also need other options late in games.

In the event we have to make changes then it's definitely an option that has its merits, I just feel that it would require a change of system. We've seen TP avoid that by picking midfielders in the role in behind the frontman so far (when Chamakh was out and when Jermome was out) , and I think that's all about maintainng the shape and discipline we have.

I guess what I am saying is although I would be interested to see what you suggest, as I would a couple of other combinations, I don't see it happening because I beleive the system we use will prevent it.

Wilbs isn't good enough to be a primary player in a game, I like him, and he does a great job as a five or ten minute back up man to protect a lead and a more valued player.

But starting with him ahead of either Jerome or Chamakh would be insane.

I agree!. Wilbs is for us nothing more than a port in a storm when things really get rough. I think we have to try by all possible means to cultivate a Chammakh and Gayle partnership. Hopefully Gayle will learn and become a force to be reckoned with. This should eventually happen but of course the question is ,how long can we waite?

Wilbraham is terrible. Why some palace fans seem to grow fond of mediocre triers is beyond me.

Gayle on the other hand has bags of potential, but he just isn't the sort of striker TP will start in this current system.Shame.

This combination worked pretty well at toke yesterday. I was expecting Wilbs to flick on to Gayle but it was the other way around for the goal yesterday.

Gayle always looked dangerous running on to Wilbrahams flick-ons yesterday, Wilbraham being further forward than Chamakh had been also gave room to Puncheon and Bannan to come inside.

Chamakh and a fit Murray would be an awesome pairing.

Murray showed last season he can hold the ball up when needed and score.

He also showed how deadly he is with good service so with Chamakh feeding him along with YB and JW he could be our Lambert.

Why would anyone chose to be a Seagull? The Eagle is a far superior creature.

The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace.

If we keep both of them in the 25, I'll bet you Wilbs contributes more than Gayle in our remaining games.
