There are 10 days left of the window. I say let's judge the club's signing policies when it's shut.

This.

Fvck me what a load of nonsense on here. Clubs these days are very media-savvy, they mostly just play the game with the media.

Remember the end of the transfer window August 2012 ? Judge us then said Parish - he signed 3 or 4 quality players, that didn't cost the earth and were quality. Suddenly a promotion winning team.

Everyone wants everything NOW or sooner - its pathetic. Have some patience - how many clubs have actually signed players of any note ? Why do sky sports hype the last day beyond belief ? Because its the last day where all the deals are concluded.

Keep the faith.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

This all day long. Its the fairweathers who are moaning. Remember august 2012 A Bristol City Reject an Unknown Brazillian, a RB who was slagged off because nobody knew, and Delaney who was said to be awful by Ipswich Fans. Yannicks Great, Moritz contributed goals to our promotion, Ward is this years player of the year for me, and Delaney is solid a leader and reliable.

If you are correct then it appears that Tony Pulis is pathetic as he has gone on record as stating that he had hoped to have signed players by now.

We've all hoped to have signed players by now, but the fact that we haven't isn't the end of the world. The important thing is how the quality of the squad is improved by the end of the transfer window, not on any given day within it.

There is always the possibility that if we sign a decent goal scorer he may have been able to contribute some extra points for us if had played in the Spurs game and who knows how valuable one or three extra points might be at the end of the season

I don't understand who or what this post is aimed at at all. I've read back through all four pages, and can find very few posts (only three or so) complaining about the lack of incoming players so far in the window. Most of the thread has discussed the relationship between the board, Moody and Pulis and whether or not the board should discuss transfer policy in the media. Both perfectly reasonable subjects to discuss.

With regard to playing the media game (your first point) the fact that you do it does not make you savvy. Mourinho is media savvy and so, for that matter, is TP. Extremely so. Oddly, our board (who include a media-relations professional) are surprisingly not. They could learn from any number of clubs that you can't go wrong when you don't open your mouth.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

I agree. However, I think this may overlook the commercial reality of the January transfer window. You buy early, you pay the list price.

Every year I pledge to expect nothing from the January window. I have always ended the month disappointed.

Also, Hull and Cardiff have bought including players who were in our sights. Have their acquisitions made the sort of immediate impact you would have wanted had we bought in the first week of January? Perhaps we'll see on Tuesday...

Its staggering how few fans these days understand football and its realities.

Palace used to be a class apart with its fans having a bit more of a grasp on things but now some of the stuff you see on these boards is mental.

Im 32 but i feel old, i imagine its a lot of the younger ones who think its all immediate; "Fxck me, we've got £90m to spend, its straight in the bank, lets spend the lot, we'll be in the champions league in 2 years, CPFC 2010 are idiots, they dont care, they want the club to be relegated etc etc etc."

SP, Browett and co have my undying loyalty. Like an SS officer at the end of the war; if they go and we get in a Sheikh Man-whoeverthefxck, ill draw my Luger and end it all.

January is a hard window to buy players we all know that and yes other clubs have done business but there's a key difference, let's look at Hull they have blown 7 million on Shane Long is he worth that? My guess probably not but they looked desperate went gun oh instead of holding there ground for another 2-3 weeks when that might of left WBA panicking if they needed him off the books and accepted 5.5 million so they would of saved 1.5million they may not of dropped but to save a few quid it's worth waiting.

We as a club are not willing to just throw money away and with our owners background they have excellent ability to negotiate a good deal just look at there businesses to see this. The January window is all about keeping your cards close to your chest and holding your poker face for as long as you can it's all about patience because once one club moves they all start moving but the first to move usually gets the raw deal so we're waiting patiently to get what we want at the right prices.

If there's no solid rumours or confirmations by about the 26th 27th then it might be time to worry but until then Patience is the key.

Good point from Seth. Still nine days to go. Steve Browett said there are lots of things going on behind the scenes. This is always a brinkmanship game. We are entitled to feel anxious, given the way the last transfer window went. And who remembers the Alan Smith days when we were desperate for new players, no-one came and we were relegated? But we need to stay cool and judge the outcome on Feb 1. Fingers crossed!

Not to mention the last time we were in the Premier League and Jordan signed nobody in the January window and we got relegated!

For whatever it is worth, we finished the Stoke game (won 1-0, remember all "gloomers"?) with ten out of 11 players from last season's squad. Of course, 1-2 quality signings would be welcome (left back and striker), but not the end of the world. With Guedioura together with the captain, Ward at right back and our work rate and fighting spirit under TP, there is a good possibility of renewed PL contract. And if not, I for one will be a happy man in the Championship as well.

Yeah but you have to play a game for 90 mins before the subs are made, usually around about 70mins onwards. Guedioura, Chamakh, Puncheon were not in last season's squad.

Only Bolasie in front of the back 6 (defence & def mid's) has been available for selection since Spurs. The back 6 has been pretty much the same apart from a few times without KG. Millen & TP have used this platform to their advantage. It is glaringly obvious we miss penetration and finishing in front of them and it is a risk relying on Murray having not played a match for 9 months.
