DJ John Peel once said: "Supporting Palace has a certain cult value, like pretending that some Peruvian rock band is the best in the world."

I met Jim Cannon in the Weatherspoons in Baker St before the play off final, never recognised him at 1st till one of the lads he was with asked us if we knew who he was ? Jim presented me with my player of the year award when I was 15 & I had the pic on my phone so he suggested recreating it 25 yrs on. Had a pic & a chat, top top bloke, just disappointed he now has no contact from the club & had to buy his own tickets from the box office as he still follows the Palace.

Has no contact with the Club and has to buy his own tickets from the box office!. My God in all the sixty nine years I have been supporting Palace I thought we had a place in the heart of the club for players who had been such loyal and effective servants for us. Sh*t this really disappoints me,I find it hard to believe and this is totally unacceptable that we as a club treat our past players with such complete indifference. Come on Steve ,makes us a more family oriented club by way of inviting back our past players for every occasion and treat them as if they do matter to us.

Bloody shame,
What a great player, felt ashamed of his treatment back then and seems nothings changed if we cant offer ex-players and gents like jimbo FREE tickets.

Perhaps the board are not aware of this situation?

Thoughts?

Eddie McGoldrick seems to employed by Danny Foley on an 'all you can drink' basis to talk to fans in the White Horse after matches.Had a long chat with him after the Stoke game and fascinating to hear stories of the Coppell/Wright/Bright era.Still wont quite admit to diving in the Blackburn play off final although had a very wry smile! ps tash went years ago.

A work colleague and I were given the opportunity to have hospitality pre-match meal and drinks before a game v Millwall in the restaurant a couple of years ago, and big Jim was on "meet and greet" duties there, also did a little talk about the old days, answering questions from the floor, telling anecdotes etc.

If he doesn't do these anymore I think it's a shame, as apart from anything else he was very good at it.
