I think the club (Not TP neccasarily) see Mcarthy and Wilbs as our two "new signings"

I think they might do with the likes of Geudiora, Murray and Hunt, but Wilbraham and McCarthy? I doubt it.

I hate these threads they are based on nothingness by media speculation. I guarantee by February 1st we will have new signings. People look into things to much.

Agree with this. Well said

Whilst its The Mirror so enuff said...it isn't really speculation fired by them

Pulis was pretty clear about 'getting our business done early'...something we patently haven't done

A well thought out and reasoned response. Thanks for coming

Stop talking crap then.

Sorry I didn't realise I was talking to Steve Parish. Crap you say perhaps you'll care to give a reasoned explanation! As you are probably aware businesses run to a plan. If at the start of the season and after the fiasco that was the summer transfer window and some behind the scenes activity with IH and our opening 10 games results why is it crap that the owners plans were to structure the club with relegation in mind? Don't get me wrong I think this a prudent thing to do but that plan needs flexibility especially if certain promises were made to TP and our current league position. I look forward to your thoughtful opinion.

"the owners have all but accepted we are going to get relegated"

This is the part i was talking about when i said you were talking rubbish. We're 16th now & have a good chance to pick up more points on Tuesday vs Hull. Why would the owners have accepted we are going to be relegated?

It said more than likely the owners have accepted that, but anyway am just pleased it got more than a 4 word reply without swearing in it! Why on earth would they accept that we are not going to be relegated! It's a real possibility that will be more so if they don't spend some money while other teams do. All I am saying is I think the owners have done a great job and perhaps just perhaps they see us as a better option being more financially stable and building from the championship than gambling on this year in the PL when nobody expected us to come up.

We are not equiped for the premier league is the bottom line.

We don't have the resources financially or staff wise to cope with the demands of the premier league.

Expecting miracles is totally unrealistic.

SP said we would give it our best shot and this is it.

Give it a rest, eh?

1. We're in 16th place, so we must be equipped for it, mustn't we?
2. Since Pulis' arrival, we're in 9th place. So even more so.
3. WBA, Swansea, Norwich, Fulham. I guess they all should have given up and accepted relegation years ago because they weren't equipped, either.
4. We don't need miracles. If we were relying on them then I agree, it would be unrealistic. But we just need an owner who gets the f*** out of the way and let's people do the jobs they're paid to do.
5, Actually, we do have the staff and resources. What we don't have is the ability to use them properly.
6. The main thing between us and success right now is ourselves.

Thing is even if we offer silly money, one of our rivals in the bottom 9 or so will offer more often just to scupper our chances of getting the player. I think these days even with a chairman who is loaded, it is a dangerous game going gung ho on transfers. I'm sure we can get some decent (if perhaps untried players in) who may be of use if we should be in the Championship again come August

But two things. First, you have to play the game or you can't win. There's no point being alive if you never do anything because you're afraid of the consequences. You may be right; someone else might outbid us. But that is not a reason not to bid in the first place.

Second, suppose we bid for a player and then get outbid? Well, if nothing else we've forced a rival to spend more money than they wanted or intended, thereby probably weakening them in the long-run. It's like the seller having a plant at an auction, whose real purpose is the drive the price up. There's more than one way of playing the game.

Very few untried players -- even those with good or promising reputations -- are Premiership quality. Gayle is a salutary example of this. Alright, you can get lucky every now and then but it's not a very good way to compete, let alone stay up.

Did anyone see SJ on Sky Sports Transfer Centre tonight now I know again people will say he is bitter and so on but he clearly feels things are not right at present.

He said that with all the reports etc it is not good for the club and that they really need to support and back TP as the money in the prem is too good to give up.

This is a guy that knows what it is like behind the scenes and he pretty much backed up what I was saying in my original post which started this thread.

Again people can say I am over reacting etc I don't care but I as it stands today have concerns so please please palace don't make the same mistakes as before when we are in the prem especially with us 5th from bottom we have a real chance of staying up.

sashI was thinking the other day that the current situation reminds me of the season after we finished third in the league and were in a position, where with a bit of investment, could have changed the future of the club..instead we did the regular Palace trick of snatching failure from the jaws of victory

Here we have been given hope and momentum by Pulis arrival and of the 10 clubs or so in the dogfight seem to have the bet man at the helm to get us out of it.

To do this is patently obvious we need a little more quality and if we do stay up who knows..

Now its not about splashing cash about wantonly but it seems that EVERY target seems out of our reach and if we keep the same attitude then we will not buy the goals that may keep us up, or the CB that can settle that back four when under pressure or that player to create and add guile to the hard work

I have a sinking feeling that yet again wrong decisions at the top will shape the history of the club for the next decade...as happened with Bloye, Noades, Jordan et al

I have fingers crossed that in the next few days everything will turn up roses but its more hope than expectation at the moment

We must be from the same era.
