A lot of good points in this thread.

Would I swap Chamakh for Jelavic? No. Would I pay £6m to play Long instead of Gayle? No. Would I swap Long for Gayle? Yes.

Though Long is obnoxious, he is the finished article and does put a shift in. He is a constant pest and a menace with good movement. I think that he would suit our current set up playing just behind CJ or MC.

It is not that I dislike or don't rate Gayle. I think that he is not yet ready to consistently start in a "blood and guts" survival battle. He probably would be starting every game if we were still in the championship.

This is a good post.

Long is one of them players who you hate to play against. In your face, quick, plays the ref.

Wouldn't mind him with us

Agree with start and finish of this post. He was loving his day in the rain vs us under Burley in that goal fest match.

thought long looked very sharp and he won a lot headers very strong for his size very quick tbh i think he will be a very good player for hull and would have fitted in for us very well

Our two supposed targets that ended up at Hull, who everyone on here was crying we didn't break the bank for, were on the losing side tonight and didn't frankly look all that amazing against a team who've signed no-one and are now level on points with them.

Looks like good business from us I'd say.

Really? Who was that? Can you name names? For myself, I never wanted either Jelavic or Long (I was lukewarm at best on the former and not remotely interested in the latter.) As a participant in all the threads to which you are referring, I obviously recall a number of us saying (and still saying) that we need to augment the team but I don't think the point of those conversations was ever about individual players. Not buying rubbish is always good business but it doesn't mean you don't need to buy at all. Your post reads like ill-targeted sniping; a sad way to celebrate a great win.

From six thousand miles away I was not overly impressed with the performance of either. Not worth what was spent on them!.For that amount of dosh I would want something much more active and agile. Of they were playing against the best defense in the league!.
