I didnt realise how good Palace fans are

Was at the QPR-Burnley game yesterday with some Burnley mates in the away end.A top of the table clash, a great game thet ended up 3-3. The atmosphere was absolute shyte from both teams,except when either team scored.Burnley bought 1400 down pretty good since they had to leave at 6.30am and it was on the telly. While standing there it made me realise how good our fans are,when we score, we sing altogether,when we have a goal against us,we sing altogether(we dont go quiet). Many times it was like a morgue,it really was "is this a library" and that with the fact it was a 6 goal thriller both sets of fans are just nothing like us.There was no banter,odd parts of the crowd did a "Burnley clap clap clap" and QPR did roughly the same,the football was good the fans were shyte. I keep hearing that we have a great,loud support and actually didnt realise how good it is, as its just normal for us to be what we are. Just thought i'd share.

I went to Saints v Yeovil in the cup last weekend, would guess about 20k people there, Yeovil had an occassional sing song, absolutely nothing from the home fans.

Watching Burnley with an attendance of less than 51,810 and another 6,000 locked out just doesn't seem right.

Was one of the fortunate one's to be in there as a young lad. Noal Brotherston looked like the oldest person in the stadium that night. Nowadays with health and safety it just couldn't happen with that many people. I do remember people being lifted out the crowd unconscious though! GT

yes I was at Palace v Chelsea Boxing Day 1969. Not quite 50,000 if I remember right. unfortunately we lost rather heavily.

I was there too, 7 years old sitting on my uncles shoulders. Trouble was he forgot when Walsh's flying header hit the back of the net & I went flying too ! Still got the programme, my best night at Selhurst.

Since they moved home even they have quietened down. Sign of our times and the genteel middle class not wanting to make a scene and embarrass themselves

It's a joke. Not to be taken entirely literally. When Roy Keane made the reference to "Prawn Sandwiches" (a generalisation you seem to accept) he was using a similar point.... Oh, look at me, I'm trying to explain the concept of humour to you when there's clearly a lot of foundation work to do first. Step 1.
