Giving Kevin Phillips a contract and a wage at the start of the season was just pure sentiment based on 'that' penalty. No sensible footballing judgement would have signed him for this league surely.

I'm not sure that was the case at all. Phillips had received an offer as player coach at Wolves which suited him as it was closer to home, meant that he would play every week and would kickstart his career in coaching.

It was Ian Holloway who persuaded him to sign on for another year and I very much doubt that sentiment had anything to do with it as he thought that Kevin Phillips could do a job for us.

If Holloway was sentimental he wouldn't have given the likes of Ramage and Garvan contract extensions and then excluded them from the playing side

There's no room for sentiment and loyalty should be entirely optional.

When the time comes, I want die just like my Dad - at peace and asleep.
Not screaming and terrified.
Like his passengers.
