Damo is bang on. We only have 2 of the top 10 left to play away - Newcastle and Everton next week. We have all the other top clubs not yet played at Selhurst - so we do need to pick up points.

Similarly the current bottom three we have yet to play away from home - so need to pick up points there as well.

So.....

We have had chances in all the games against top sides but we have not taken them hmmmmm thats why we dont win or get points

So if the fans know it the players seem to know it why did we not get a striker in the transfer window??

I would assume because Murray is coming abck from Injury and Ince has been scoring goals in the Championship so may do it in prem as well (bit like murray i suppose)

That is one hell of a gamble

It's telling what those around us did.

A striker for a lot of the bottom 10 is a premium that they are craving for. Hull spent a ridiculous ammount of two strikers that, despite their quality, haven't got the best records recently. They were instrumental in their win at the weekend, but will they keep Hull up? I don't have a crystal ball, but I know a few of us would raise eyebrows if we spent that sort of money on two strikers like Long and Jelavic.

Fulham had to go to Greece and pay 11m; massive gamble. Not the sort of player we should have looked at.

West Ham have all their eggs in one basket, and he will probably be out for 3 games.

Point is, no one did any business up front where I thought we'd missed out for the price they payed. I would have maybe enquired about Le Fondre though.

I said during the last day of the window, if we can't get a striker in, then increasing the supply to our current strikers will be the next best thing. Ledley and Ince offer a lot in that respect, and if we can create enough chances, we will score goals.

The question is why do we constantly play MC and CJ up front when niether of them look like ever scoring a goal ?.

Surly against AFC on Sunday we had very little to lose so why not change the line up and up try something new?. The guys put in a good shift on Sunday but were never going to win.

Continualy playing the same way and expecting things to change is stupidity. Soul destroying at times.

"why did we not get a striker in the transfer window"

Both of Arsenal's goals on Sunday came from a winger not a Centre Forward.

When a CF does score it's usually from an accurate cross sent in by a winger or a perfect pass from an attacking midfielder (look at all of Murrays open play goals in the "Watch and Admire" thread).

We already have quality CFs in Chamakh, Murray and Gayle. Paying over the odds for a striker better than these would not guarrantee staying up unless the midfield support is there.

We now have a midfield capable of supplying the strikers as well as scoring some themselves.

I wonder if now we have more options in midfield with nice and Ledley wether Chamack will play as the lone sticker role. With his control and skill I would much rather see him higher up the park..
