And Gerry Francis was truly inspired that day. The best individual performance over ninety minutes I have ever seen from a Palace player.

I don't know what facilities there are in the family stand but if you are going to struggle to change a nappy then it could make the match unbearable for you and the nipper. And those around you!

I didn't take my kids until they could understand what was going on (and they still got bored).

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I don't understand what anyone would get out of it apart from when it's older being able to say "my first game was when I was x months old". Having to keep checking on the baby and maybe having to feed it, change it or whatever and the risk of it absolutely pissing down with rain can't be enjoyable during the game. Also the fact that the baby won't remember 1 second of it makes it seem pretty pointless to me.

My wife has said I can only go to the West Brom game tomorrow if I take our baby with me. In fairness she's never complained before and she is heavily pregnant... Has anyone taken a baby in before? I'm in the family stand so you'd think it would be OK - just don't want to turn up tomorrow and get told that she's not allowed in.

Can't you just goto Ikea, leave sprog in crèche, go Palace, go Ikea, get sprog, go home?

Most certainly not European.

Great question!

To those posters who clearly have had no idea what a baby is or does I think you should concentrate on something you do know at least a little about. Have you tried one of the threads about Football?

To the OP - good on you for recognising that your wife might appreciate some time off from child care. I think you should try to take your daughter along to a game - weather permitting. If she is in a papouse and you know where you going to be sitting you should be fine. I guess you should be prepared to leave early if she doesn't settle or needs changing. Are there really no changing facilities in the "Family Stand"? (how can it have this name if it doesn't cater for Families? What about at Sainsbury's? Perhaps you will need to do a reccy ahead of her first visit.

Can't believe that anyone would even consider taking a baby to a football match.

This.

Absolutely agree with this.

Why? You must have some family who can babysit. If not then miss the game. A baby at football is just not on for so many reasons.

Leave the baby at home and divorce her
You know it makes sense in the long run

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

Blimey, it seems I was an awful parent a few years back then. As a matter of interest why - what are the 'so many reasons'? The club are happy enough to have babies. I remember the day Palace beat Liverpool at Anfield, we could only get tickets in the Kop which was full up. There were babies in there.

And don't give me the 'no changing facilities' logic, they are a recent innovation and all parents can handle changing the baby without them.
