3rd favourites to go down last season; raging favourites this season, IF (and a big IF) we were to not avoid the drop a few months from now, would this result hurt more / less than previous relegation's?

For me, it would be brutal. We've turned full circle in a handful of months.

We constantly over achieve, mixed in with a dash of under achievement and always seem to end up somewhere in the middle.

Last campaign in the top flight, our follically challenged little man up front was a once in a 20 year player for us, and whilst we're devoid of someone like AJ this time around, we're a more balanced outfit.

It took a while to get there (maybe just even last week) but the squad we have now, is close to our best; if not it, for some time.

IH buggered it up with the squad early, whilst TP said, "Enough of this." and got it sorted.

Put simply; we deserve to stay up, and I'll be gutted for TP, the chairman, and the players if we don't beat the drop.

For what it's worth, I think we will, 15th looks about right for us. 17th will do.

this is exactly how I see it but we are on the cusp of the best palace team ever. we'll stay up and for once we won't be biting our nails in may. I am convinced , also , that we'll beat manyoo next week.

I will be delighted if we stay up but not to upset if we don't. Championship football is more exciting,
The plastics will bugger off to their next Premier club and us fans will not get ripped off so much.

Interesting couple of points there BW. The first I do not agree with, the prem is plenty exciting and with the quality considerably higher I'll take that all day long. But regards the plastics, that would be good - got a dildo near me who thinks he is there to be royally entertained and complains loudly when he is not, the attention seeking pr*ck.

Tony Pulis has brought the whole club hope and the belief that may be just may be we can stay up for once. The team isn't to far away from being our best (for me at the moment the team that finished 3rd is the best) and the spirit is amazing. Yes if we go down it will feel like the end of the world for a while but it won't be we'll dust ourselves down and go again. It's Crystal Palace the rollercoaster ride is why we keep coming back.

I will be elated if we defy the odds and stay up.

In so e ways, staying up given the start we had and the odds against us would be the clubs finest moment. Let's hope it happens.

exactly.

this would be the best since 1991 but the team in 1991 was by far the best ever.

martyn was better than speroni.

ian wright was untouchable, i mean, its like murray going to arsenal and becomming one of their best ever strikers, not happening, wrighty was sublime.

Bright was still immense.

Thomas, Gray, did what jedinek and hopefully Ledley do well but i feel were even stronger and definitely moreso going forward. Andy Grays spot kicks and long shots, he was like Lothar Mattheus. Thomas was a great CAM.

Salako was destined for great things before that terrible injury, still, had a good few years with us and was easily england class, great end product most of the time.

There were a few spots i'd swap though with the current crop.

shaw was a weak spot, mr own goal himself, Dean Gordon was class but came a few years later, so i'd have swapped shaw for Deano.

Maybe humphrey for Ward but humphry was accomplished.

Ninja i feel was a player you cant compare to todays game, he'd struggle today lol but then, most of todays players would struggle back then. Could you imagine christiano ronaldo playing back then with Eric the Ninja around? whack, end of career. lol.

generally, the 1991 team was alot stronger but todays team, with an Ian Wright up front, would do great things too.

If we stay up, I'll be a blubbering wreck. It would be monumental and simply historic. Everyone at the club, particularly TP, deserves a bloody medal!

I don't know what's worse; sinking like a stone, or fighting tooth and nail and still fail.

I'm content with the future of the club being secured, so anything else is a bonus. I'm taking it one game at a time, and just enjoying the ride.
