Would this season hurt the most....?

Relegation this season would be a huge disappointment for the club, especially after the last couple of months under Pulis. My only worry is that the longer we stay in the league, the higher the expectations of the fans, the owners and the players. In the near future many fans won't be happy with just avoiding relegation, they will want us to push for Europe. Look what happned to Pulis when Stoke got ahead of themseves. The club would probably move to a soulless 40,000 seater stadium and our youth system will be abandoned in favour of signing the latest players across the European leagues. Ticket prices will go up and we'll attract a global fanbase in an attempt to boost shirt sales. Alternatively, we could be playing Barnsley away this weekend.

I have never felt so hurt and disappointed as after the 2-2 draw with Southampton last time in the prem. I don't think anything football wise could hurt that much again.

Difficult to say what was the best Palace 11. Bert Head signed little known players and achieved the longest stay at the top. When a result was really needed that team got it. But the style was appalling, known as kick and rush, but, ALA TP at Stoke, it was very effective. Then the team of the eightees under Venables/Allison could be regarded as the best players, all internationals who were able to control the ball as well as pass accurately. They made it to the top of the old 1st Div. Like being asked to compare Foreman to Tyson, who can say? The point ,I suppose ,is no matter how much the old club lose their way and prem credentials, they will always come back. So relegation will just be another exciting era in the roller coaster that those glory seeking fans will not be able to understand. But I'll keep coming back!

I honestly felt at the start of the season we would go down, a feel I didnt have under Dowie all throughout the season Aj scoring I always felt we would stay up, looking at the league there was 3 teams worst than us. How we scrapped into the play-offs lost our 2 best players (wilf and Murray), plus looking at a very strong league and no teams that I would say would defo go down really didnt think we had a snowballs chance in hell. So for me IF we do go down think this time would not hurt as much, as I can always say the shocking start under IH was the reason we got relegated.

For me our first "Premier Years" relegation hurt the most. We'd finished 3rd just two years previously and sales, lack of investment to progress and poor purchases of those that did come in managed to see us relegated within two years of those great times. Sad

Going down on goal difference again (1994-95 to Aston Villa) or conceding a goal in the last 10 mins of a game (Southampton 2004-05) then Charlton's equaliser in same season. Please, not this time, just let's be clear of danger as soon as we can.

It's been a rollercoster so far.Bearing in mind that back in October we were pretty much relegated, to now be in a position where we have a great chance of staying up, also for most of us thinking that Tony Pulis was not the man we needed (which has been gladly stuffed back down our throats !)and also that he is building a team, I believe we are on the cusp of something special at Palace, but only if we stay up.Personally if we go down this year it will hurt more than ever before because it will always be 'what could have been'.Those who think we'll bounce straight back up are kidding themselves I'm afraid, we'll lose half the team and be back at square one (with more money obviously).

We're SO close to where we want / need to be and to go down would be a absolutely gut wrenching.

I think it would be horrific this season if we went down - theres just this buzz this season and a feeling in the air at Selhurst that we will actually do what was unthinkable 10 games in.. Having said that, 04-05 was heart breaking, I remember watching "gillete survival sunday" on sky sports and when Fortune made it 2-2 I remember that sinking feeling like it was yesterday, by full time i was crying like a baby - please God not again this season.
