Wow, what a thread. Lots of flickers of what people want to say but feel restricted, probably for fear of being sue or rediculed.
I have personal experience of him through foootball and golf. Firstly, imo he (Altonwood) killed The Addington Golf Club and Mrs Fabes would be spinning in her grave. Nothing ever got done without RN specific instruction so i do blame him entirely. Not that he ever gave a s*** but he took a course, rated inside the top 30 in the world by the Americans and chopped it up too much. Completely killed the ambience with its over bearing commerciality.

I personally think he made the 'black comments' up to smooth the transfer of Wright to AFC. Of course he wasn't racist, he couldn't come into our club and say these things, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Wright was even told by him that he was going to say what he was reported to have said. Football is full of bluster and bulls*** behind the scenes.
Back in the day we used to have a model of the new prposed stadium in the entrance of the mainstand, that soon went out of the window when the cheaply built Holmesdale stand was 'chucked up', looked nothing like the model either.
I wished Mark Goldberg would have his say on what happened, many peoples' view of him would change for the better, he only ever had Palace's best interests at heart and would never ever have put CPFC in the financial position it ended up in as well as lose the best part of £45m personal cash.

I could write shed loads of stuff about him, the way he treated people within his businesses (my god daughter works for one of his companies now), the way he talked to people at Palace and even to myself (just the once mind). For every one person who says he did something good/said something nice for them, tenfold will say the opposite. I truely believe he stood on anyone and anything in his businesses life to get his business to where it was when he died, without a care and regret, which sometimes is what a lot of us wish we could do every now and then. Not many people get rich by being nice.

For me, I think he was a misertable old b****** who was outrageously rude to me in a situation where I had my family present, my one regret was not punching him across his breakfast table, but then I wouldn't have sworn at him infront of his youngster like he did mine.
He gets kudos for Coppell and nothing else for the aggravation he caused when he did what he did regarding the ground. Certainly more devisive imo than anyone else ever involved in our club, give him a brick in the memorial wall, nothing else.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.
