Administration under Goldberg largely for the fact that the club was separated from the ground. Selling to a wally like Goldberg in the first place was also his responsibility, his decision.

Goldberg had been trying to buy the club for months. Noades told him NOT to buy the club and NOT to appoint Venables. It was the supporters who felt that Noades had taken the club as far as he could and Noades himself said that this was splashed all over the back page of the 'Advertiser'.This had an enormous influence on Noades and he felt his departure was inevitable.Noades has admitted that he regretted this decision.

Regards the ground, he certainly did NOT set out to own 'Selhurst Park' after the club was sold and the 'Freehold' was put into the package on a 5 year option.Goldberg defaulted on the payments and the 'freehold' was taken back.

I think that there is a lot of supposition from you here Willo. Fact: Noades decided to sell the club to Goldberg. Fact: Noades allowed the club to be sold without either the ground or the training ground.
Fact: He kicked us out of the training ground and built a golf club there instead. Fact: Noades refused to sell the ground to Jordan despite the fact that this was a large reason for us going bust under Goldberg.

Am I right so far?

With respect not a "Lot of supposition" at all - I have stated facts !
And I have answered the points regarding selling the club to Goldberg and the fact that the ground was not sold as part of the deal.

Regards Jordan and the ground, firstly Noades and Jordan had NO relationship at all and if my memory serves me well I think that at some stage Jordan offered an amount which was way below what was required. Prior to that when Lim was involved there was a 99 year lease on the ground but Lim negotiated out of it as he wanted to move the ground to Gatwick.

Does any one remember this farce from the late 90's?

This is from his wikipedia site

In 1991, Noades provoked controversy with his comments on the racial make-up of his team:

"The black players at this club lend the side a lot of skill and flair, but you also need white players in there to balance things up and give the team some brains and some common sense."

The fall-out led to several black players leaving the club, including key players Ian Wright, Mark Bright and Andy Gray.

RIP Ron but lets move on

That was proven to be badly edited to make Noades look like a racist. With how Bright & Wright regarded him, I doubt very much that Noades was a racist.

I think they both spoke at his funeral. Furthermore Ian Wright and Andy Gray regularly used to visit Noades' home in Ridley Road, Warlingham.

My post did make the point that it was not illegal (highlighted in red).

Whilst his actions broke no laws, he was hardly being a benefactor to CPFC as he had bought the club for a song and could have led Palace to even greater success but he chose to be greedy and cash in.

That behaviour does not warrant him being "honoured" by the club, in my opinion.

Yes, I can read.

So chairmen need to be benefactors to the club to fulfil your ideal of a chairman, perhaps you ought to mention that to CPFC2010, should they just plough all of their wealth in to satisfy your ambition? He bought the club for a song as it had been run down by the previous incumbent and no-one else wanted it, or put another way, he saw an opportunity and had the money to achieve it.

You've side stepped the question I want you and others to answer, why shouldn't he spend money made from his business?

I can read too.

If you can read why did you feel the need to point out something I had already acknowledged?

Why are you being so aggressive? You have an opinion and so do I. No need for it.

I have not "sidestepped" anything but made it plain that I do not regard him as a benefactor and therefore totally unacceptable as a potential candidate to be honoured.

Earlier you suggested that Noades was similar to myself (based on my right leaning politics and capitalist views I guess), but as far as Palace is concerned he is nothing like me - if I had a windfall I would donate it to Palace without question. I would not be looking for a return on my money.

Lets hope I've cleared that up without the need for you to be in my face about it.... LOL

I'm not being aggressive Hoof, there's not any point in pursuing this as you have again failed to answer anything I've asked you.

I haven't though?

OK, highlight for me where you have answered this much asked question, the one I've highlighted in red.

From your comments on this topic after this post, you seem unable to acknowledge that Noades did anything correctly, as I've said before, try taking your emotion out of the equation and look at the facts.

You're still being quite aggressive whereas I am stating quite calmly what I think of Noades - which incidentally mirror the thoughts of most Brentford fans that feel equally ripped off from "Uncle Ron".

To try and answer your question... yes I do believe that football club chairmen should be benefactors. What is wrong with that?

There are precious few margins to make money if you run the club to a success on field and maintain the dignity/history of the club. We have all seen the fcuk ups at Portsmouth and the recent shenanigans at Hull and Cardiff.

As I have already stated Noades bought our club for a song and when things started to improve he used it as a cash cow to fund his desire to set up a few golf clubs. We have already determined that his actions were not illegal, but he can hardly be regarded as someone to be honoured because he clearly had no love for Palace otherwise he would have tried to make us as successful as we possibly could be.

So in summary I believe that Noades had no right to redistribute CPFC assets to his other businesses because he was acting as a temporary "steward" of the club and as such had a duty of care to protect the ongoing stability of it for past present and future fans.

I'd really love for you to point out where I'm being aggressive, in your mind perhaps. Anyway I won't be contributing to this thread lest I be accused of bullying next.

You're quite adept at playing the victim when need be.

Listen to the interview Bubbs put up, at the time as Willo has stated, the majority of Palace fans wanted him out and Goldberg in, as Goldberg was promising the world. Goldberg was the one who royally fvcked the club, yet everyone blames Noades for selling to him, beggars belief really.

If Goldberg had acquired the ground, do you think club and ground would be reunited as it is today?

Could someone answer this one question for me: If Ron Noades jad the club's interests at heart & had a love for Palace then why did he compound our financial difficulties by charging the club ridiculous rent on Selhurst Park?

What was this "Ridiculous rent" ?

As far as I am aware when Noades had the freehold he used to lease it back at the rate of 10% of gate receipts.Think Jordan was paying £1.2 Mill a year but this was when the freehold was with other parties and not with Noades.

Ron sold the ground to... yes you got it... Altonwood. His own company. He then charged far more than 10% of the gate receipts. Kelsley and HBOS were indeed charging us £1.2m per annum. Ron then again tried to buy the ground from PwC to then profit again by charging rent at roughly £600k year.

It's all about profit for Ron. Who would now own Selhurst Park if Ron had managed to buy it & what would their intentions be?

Over to you William Noades...

Noades was interested in getting a group together to buy the 'Freehold' but he categorically stated that IF he had done so he would have charged CPFC 10% of gate money which he used to do before.

And who would own 'Selhurst Park' now IF the ground had not been separated from the club when Goldberg took over ???? One shudders to think.
