Ron Noades to be honoured

It appears that Ron was a good husband and father. Palace also achieved something of a golden period during his ownership. For all the carping, an epitaph most of us would be proud of.

My post did make the point that it was not illegal (highlighted in red). Whilst his actions broke no laws, he was hardly being a benefactor to CPFC as he had bought the club for a song and could have led Palace to even greater success but he chose to be greedy and cash in. That behaviour does not warrant him being "honoured" by the club, in my opinion. Yes, I can read. So chairmen need to be benefactors to the club to fulfil your ideal of a chairman, perhaps you ought to mention that to CPFC2010, should they just plough all of their wealth in to satisfy your ambition? He bought the club for a song as it had been run down by the previous incumbent and no-one else wanted it, or put another way, he saw an opportunity and had the money to achieve it. You've side stepped the question I want you and others to answer, why shouldn't he spend money made from his business?
If you can read why did you feel the need to point out something I had already acknowledged? Why are you being so aggressive? You have an opinion and so do I. No need for it. I have not "sidestepped" anything but made it plain that I do not regard him as a benefactor and therefore totally unacceptable as a potential candidate to be honoured. Earlier you suggested that Noades was similar to myself (based on my right leaning politics and capitalist views I guess), but as far as Palace is concerned he is nothing like me - if I had a windfall I would donate it to Palace without question. I would not be looking for a return on my money. Lets hope I've cleared that up without the need for you to be in my face about it.... LOL Edited by Hoof Hearted (16 Feb 2014 11.09am)
From your comments on this topic after this post, you seem unable to acknowledge that Noades did anything correctly, as I've said before, try taking your emotion out of the equation and look at the facts.
To try and answer your question... yes I do believe that football club chairmen should be benefactors. What is wrong with that? There are precious few margins to make money if you run the club to a success on field and maintain the dignity/history of the club. We have all seen the fcuk ups at Portsmouth and the recent shenanigans at Hull and Cardiff. As I have already stated Noades bought our club for a song and when things started to improve he used it as a cash cow to fund his desire to set up a few golf clubs. We have already determined that his actions were not illegal, but he can hardly be regarded as someone to be honoured because he clearly had no love for Palace otherwise he would have tried to make us as successful as we possibly could be. So in summary I believe that Noades had no right to redistribute CPFC assets to his other businesses because he was acting as a temporary "steward" of the club and as such had a duty of care to protect the ongoing stability of it for past present and future fans. I'd really love for you to point out where I'm being aggressive, in your mind perhaps. Anyway I won't be contributing to this thread lest I be accused of bullying next. You're quite adept at playing the victim when need be.
By all means disagree with my viewpoints but don't undermine my right to air them on the basis that I am not in a fit state of mind to debate. I'm not playing a victim but asserting my right to debate with you on a level playing field.

Kelsley and HBOS were indeed charging us ｣1.2m per annum. Ron then again tried to buy the ground from PwC to then profit again by charging rent at roughly ｣600k year. Noades was interested in getting a group together to buy the 'Freehold' but he categorically stated that IF he had done so he would have charged CPFC 10% of gate money which he used to do before.
The link to the SLP has since expired however it was pasted here on the BBS. He catagorically says, from his own mouth that the rent would be roughly half what SJ was charged by Kelmsley & HBOS.

You and I can throw figures about but the fact remains is that the figures are a far cry from the ｣1.2 Million per year which Jordan was paying.

I am NOT calling Noades a liar at all, I am merely stating that months later he referred to the 10% and even went so far as to state that gate receips were ｣3.4 Mill which would equate to a rent of ｣340,000 a year ! It is very feasible that there had been a shift in the intervening months ! As for being a 'Troll' - I shall treat this with the contempt it deserves.
