We now need to focus on the real issue arising from this thread

The role played by Escape Goats in the whole business...

I think thats one of the best things I have ever read on here

About time this thread ended hey ladies? It seems to have turned into a slagging off match between the supporters. It also seems that the HF seem to be escape goats for any borderline behaviour. Of course throwing coins is wrong as it's a waste of money throwing them at the hooker f***1ng w@nker Rooney (Obviously has some mummy issues going on). I never saw any plane gestured & I was next to B block. I never heard the away London supporters as they were drowned out all game long.
So why don't we end & refrain from starting just stupid threads & get on with supporting the team instead of playing keyboard warriors against each other.
Personally my biggest shock of the day was we never beat them, I was positive we'd be 8 nil up by half time! I guess watching 3 home game wins in a row increased my expectations somewhat!

What on earth are 'escape goats'? I take it you mean 'scapegoats'! Is this really the level of English that we expect on here now?

In any case, the coins were thrown from the HF area - you cannot deny that - just as they were against Watford a year or so ago.

Back to the question of someone 'conducting' the HF - seems an incredible waste of money to buy a ticket and then not even watch the game, but perhaps that tells you all you need to know about the 'ultras' - that the football doesn't really matter.

You have an issue with someone standing up with their back to the game?

Ok, f*ck it. As we're having a moan on this thread I'll join in.

The Holmesdale Upper... Wow. Some give it a go and make some noise and passion but they are in the minority. It's full of miserable old sh*ts who never stop moaning. They moan if you ask them politely to let you get by to get to your seat, they moan if anyone makes ANY noise and on Saturday they moaned at the display organisers for daring to put a display up.

I mean, what's the point of coming? Far more pointless than...standing with your back to the game, helping create at atmosphere...

Wait, cpj, you don't sit in the upper do you?

The holmsdale online never fails to blow things way out of proportion. Fan has been arrested for throwing a coin. Job done. You would have thought somebody got seriously injured the way some react to it.

No, it's really not the biggest deal in the world, but this is a forum after all and I can understand why people are pissed off, especially when it's on live TV and getting the club in the press for the wrong reasons. Plus it's not just 'one fan throwing a coin' people are talking about, that's just one person that has been arrested so far. A good few people were throwing stuff, including a bottle, from whatever sections of Block B.

Yes it's just a minority of young idiots who've had one too many WKDs, we all know that, but yet again over these past few seasons the actions of a few have caused a scene. Smashing up/throwing seats and injuring our own fans comes to mind, pathetic little boys but ones that cause issues for the club and other fans. It's almost as bad as real hooliganism because it's just very sad behaviour. So I hope they do get some of the rest of them from CCTV and get them banned. It's embarrassing, simple as that, grow up or piss off away from our club.

By the way, yet another player who gets abuse from the word go and then sticks the ball in the back of the net, will those fans ever learn!?

Not young idiots, fella arrested was 44yrs old. Cannot recall seeing to many 44yr olds in the HF.

At what point did I mention the Holmesdale Fanatics!? Oh and it's 'too many' by the way. Young/old, they're still idiots are they not? From personal experience it's usually the young ones causing these problems home and away, but if the one person who has been caught so far is 44 then that's even more pathetic!

Its not a job done we are now all tarnished by the episode. This Is a quote from Steve Browett on the BBS.. I think it sums up the feelings of the people who rescued our club :

[Link]

""What's annoying is that Palace fans were starting to be talked about in the media as the best fans in the league and the brilliant HF display should have taken that praise to an even higher level.

By contrast Man United fans have caused trouble in several stadiums this season and behaved badly at Selhurst. The disrespect of Tom Finney was disgraceful.

Yet...one or two idiots throw stuff at one of England's most famous footballers right in front of the tv cameras and our fans are now seen by the media and the country as being hooligans.

The people who threw those coins owe the rest of us a massive apology. I hope they never get to see another Palace game. The vast majority of Palace supporters would say that it would serve them right.""

I for one agree with him 100% .

There are no legends in football, but there are good memories...

I wonder how many of the coin throwers will be w*nking themselves silly if Rooney is in-form during the World Cup.

I would guess very few, especially if you cast your mind back and his comments coming off the pitch and out of his spud faced pube encrusted hole after the Algeria game, to people who had spent thousands and probably given up jobs to watch him disinterestly drag his fat sweaty pasty multi millionaire carcass around the pitches of South Africa

As for coins - meh..it happens and worse happened back in the dark old days of the 70's and 80's - as has been pointed out CCTV will probably pick people out and they will get banned so why some of the over the top handwringing posts I dont know.

Although it does seem its given ammo to those on here about our support who seem to have some agenda
Anyhoo, will it be the end of football as we know it ? - of course not.

Far more damaging to football is the object of the copper being hurled has been given a contract worth 300k a week basic....

Edited by The Sash (24 Feb 2014 11.54am)

The best sentence on this entire thread of drivel!

I'm genuinely interested to know why you would think Palace fans have an agenda against a very vocal and passionate (albeit small) faction of the support if they haven't done anything whatsoever to be ashamed of.

Without wishing to prolong this thread...there are currently 17pages based on a few coins; lazy assumptions that it was the HF and name calling all of which brings out the same old faces on here; like flies round s***.

Yes - I apologise for starting it, but it really pissed me off at the time (and apparently Steve Browett).

In all honesty, I wish I hadn't.

All good. Nothing bad.

My concern is that if they start digging tunnels it's going to ruin the pitch!
Is the all black uniform to help them cross the Swiss border without being recognised?
Maybe we should bring the Great Escape back into our repertoire too?

I really can't billyve some of the comments, acting like a bunch of kids,I've herd it all now, flocking on here to give your tuppence worth and making Paul the butt of jokes while ramming a little mistake down his billy-goat(throat)! It's udderly pointless and can we all stop milking it now! PS. Pauls name is a reference to his musical taste and not because he's an absolute nutter! See you next game Paul. Ollie's Dad,Ash.
