Another member who believes the length of time registered on a message board has anything to do with there support for the team.

That is so pathetic lol!

Is it as pathetic as anyone still using 'lol' at the end of sentences. (unless they are highlighting its usage of course)

Sorry I should've put "haha"

God help some of you grammar police, political, sad Nigel's.

You don't use apostrophes for plurals.

Lol

Your a 60 year old man taking the piss out of the younger generation. Most probably cos you can't still get one up to disappoint the mrs.

Maths not your strong suit either......

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

No it is actually - got an A in that subject - one thing I was taught was something called "rounding up"

It actually comes in handy sometimes, such as now, you should give it a go.

What constitutes a 'new fan'?

I was listening to some of the 'day tripper' songs on the tube before the playoffs coming out of the mouths of semi-pubescent teens, thinking "I was going to Palace, among less than 10,000 others, long before you were even born"

Exactly how long must a fan have been a fan before their opinion is worthy in your eyes? Judging by their age, most of the HF would be 'new fans' (in the eyes of us old hands at least)

There are frequent threads on this site with regard to a new stadium. Some question whether it would become a half empty irrelevance. Reading this particular thread the ability to get the neccessary attendance to allow for a new place is geatly impaired. What do you dinosaurs want? The Den perhaps, half-filled with 9,000 baying hard boys. Others would like to go but are put off and so the Oooligans can only afford cheap, and unambitious players. I suppose that's where we're heading. But if that makes you happy.....

Oh the irony........

Cos it's getting boring and tedious, I should've known someone would try and be smart and point that out, to be right and look good and anal in front of other members.

Well done you for being a Nigel.

Now you've made yourself look an even bigger dick.

I've never once watched a game at Selhurst Park and spent my time there worrying about how long the rest of the crowd had been watching Palace for. For the 90 minutes of the game everyone who has paid to get in deserves their place in the stadium as much as anyone else and I would imagine the ticket office is equally as non-discriminatory when you're giving them your credit card details.

Just enjoy the packed out stadium and accept that everyone is entitled to watch football how they want to (within reason and within the law).

It really seems a shame that in such a potentially fantastic season in the history of Palace we have to have a big argument about the validity of supporters every single day. Even people starting threads suggesting we don't have an argument just serves to start another argument.

Absolutely agree, Some people won't be happy until we've given a run down of all games we've been to home and away or how much we've spent at the club since we supported them. Self righteous nonsense really

Ironically I don't think it's necessarily new fans you're referring to.

That said, it seems more and more often, that the message displayed on Saturday, is utterly redundant.

It'll take another trip to Lloyd's to get everyone pulling in the same direction again, and sadly by then we will all be in mourning.

It's not really about if fans are new, old or returning is it really? It's more about controlling your environment and where you sit and the behaviour that you want to exhibit.

I've had my seat for a long time and I know people who sit around me and have been sitting there for years and we've all become accustomed to the behaviour that we expect and the atmosphere that will be generated. I sit in the Arthur in the upper part of block V and had all sorts next to me this season who I can tell immediately it they are going to enjoy sitting in that seat. Man Utd game we had two older ladies and a few kids in their early teens and my first thoughts were that a) they going to feel intimidated when everyone stands up and b) they are not going to like the colourful language that is likely to materialize in a matter of minutes. Now they had two choices, say something or move. They moved.

If you someone finds themselves in the upper parts of blocks V or W in the Arthur or in the Holmesdale fanatics blocks, then they're not realistically going to try and ask 40 odd blokes to tone it down a little, however if they're anywhere else in the ground, then they're more likely to feel able to try and control their environment and ask people to stop.

And that's when the problem arises as these people are on your turf, your patch of the ground where you've been sitting for years and years and how dare they be so arrogant to ask such a thing. However in their minds they have that right, they've bought their ticket and they want to watch the team they've supported for years without listening to crude language.

The amount of times someone gets to a game isn't indicative of their level of support for the club, for those of you like myself who've been lucky enough to afford the time and money to get a season ticket over the years, just remember that there may come a time when one or both of those things are lacking and you might only be able to afford the odd game here or there. Would that then make you less of a supporter?

As for new supporters, you were a new supporter once and whilst I do agree that some of our new supporters should come to the games with a more open attitude rather than expecting the atmosphere they might find in the theatre, we still need to welcome them in and encourage them to come back. Frankly like every club that isn't one of the top six or seven, we need the money.

Remove if you like, just thought i'd say i'm fed up of "new" fans bitching about other palace fans on here, if you don't like the support stop being so stuck up and go support Brighton. So what if there's a few 'malicious' chants, grow a pair and stop complaining.

New fans is what will help this club grow. Even if the club stays up a few years we will never fully establish ourselves unless the fanbase grows. If new fans (or old ones return) they are just as entitled to their opinion as you and me whether you like them or not, whether they moan or gush, whether they stand or sit and whether the watch in silence or sing.
Having a season ticket for x, y, or z amount of years does not make anyone more of a fan than anyone else. I say welcome. I'd prefer they shared my opinion but don't demand it. I'd like them not to moan but its their prerogative.
Have you thought for one moment that many 'new fans are getting a little fed up with these high horse rants of people like yourself who clearly think they are more of a fan than them?
