Looking through the home attendances for this season I noticed that when we played Everton the numbers recorded were 25,231 (The biggest crowd this season so far).

The attendance for last Saturday against Man Utd is showing 24,571. That's 660 fewer supporters. I was under the impression it was a sell-out stadium. Well maybe not unless 660 corporate quests didn't bother turning up.

Selhurst looked full on TV.

I don't know the answers to these but a few thoughts:

Does the sterile area change size for some opponents?
Does the turnstile count the crowd or does ticket sales? (e.g: if people buy a ticket but don't show up, does it count on the attendance?) I would suspect ticket sales determine what is a 'sell out crowd' but the turnstiles count how many people actually come along.

hope we sell out for sure, i imagine its ticket sales and not actual people turning up part time

For the sake of accurate VAT returns Palace must have to show how many turn up at what price they pay to determine the amount Mr Tax can exact. May explain why gates plummeted so quickly after VAT was introduced!

Only need to know income from ticket sales, not how many were sold, nor who turned up.

I thought they put the restricted view seats on sale, and they were the ones sold from Thursday without a B game in tow?

I have to say, I remember 1997 when we played Chelsea, 26k+ at that game, and the stadium looked as full on Saturday - I even commented that its nice to hit capacity crowd.

I agree, it seemed full on Saturday so I'm a bit confused if other games were officially higher in attendance. I don't sit in the Arthur but that gap between home and away fans looked smaller too, as if they had sold more Palace seats than usual(?). I believe there were some 'restricted view' tickets left, I assume that's at the back of the Arthur now they've put all that extra TV structuring up across the whole width of the stand, but it still looked pretty full from the Holmesdale, I guess the odd empty seat can't be noticed though.
