Sentiment is very expensive, As good as Jules has been for us surely the club canot keep 2 highly paid keepers on the books. Would estimate they cost us £1m as season each in wages. If we kept every long term player on the books because they have been loyal ect ect we could end up back in the s*** again. For the good of the club players have to move on, We have players now that are on the payroll with very little chance of playing. Are we keeping them incase we get relegated, Probably, but I think if we stay up those players will be let go. Am sure Jules wouldn't want to be a number Two for the last few seasons he may have left. Hennessey didn't come to Palace to sit on the bench either.Would like to see Hennessey play to get an opinion on him.

Disgusting not to have offered him anything. I could just about accept them saying he can have a new contract but Hennessey will be no.1 (despite Jules doing nothing wrong to be dropped) but to have no offered anything whatsoever at this late stage is a complete lack of respect to a legend.

Part of this is how Parish does his business. I've heard from a fairly reliable source that we're pretty hard on contract re-negotiations. Particularly on older players or players who are locked into long-ish terms already. O'Keefe has spent the last two years on ~ £2,500 per week which for a PL player is pretty low. Its on the low side for a Championship regular frankly. Apparently he and his agent have raised contract discussions with Parish and they get waived away with promises of 'end of the season'.

The problem with getting to see Hennessy play is that if he is not as good as Jules and we only get one point from a game because of that or zero when we deserve all three, then that could be the difference between staying up and relegation.

Way too risky. Best to play Hennessy when Jules loses form or confidence but please not now.

Just like with everyone else in the first team squad contracts will be left and reviewed till the season is over. There should be no rush in that respect. Williams was given one to assure him that he is here for the long term and that the move to Ipswich wouldn't be hinting that he'll leave. I think that Jules will get offered something in the summer

Speroni MUST be offered a new deal. Not just because he has been an incredible servant to the club but because, as many have said, he has been one of our best players this season and proved that he is good enough to play at this level.

I will be both angry and disappointed if he is not offered the contract he deserves from us!

If theres been one thing Julian Speroni has been since becoming the Palace number 1 its consistant. He's missed one or two games a season and its rare to see much in the way of mistakes over the course of a season.

This season, he's been exceptional. The number of games we've taken points from by scoring only one goal is a testament to him and the defence in front of him. If we stay up, Speroni will have played a very major role in that. Not a single number 2 has managed to edge out Speroni, who's even played when injured.

Conistancy in a keeper is what you want.

never been a fan of his he has done well but nowhwere the best we have had and I go back 45 years and we have a £3m keeper waiting now here comes the slaging off

With you on this. Great 3 or 4 years ago but not good enough now. People say he's been great this season but I just don't see it. Earlier in the season he had the second worst saveshots ratio in the division. All that's changed since is that the defence has got better. Still lets in far too many saveable shots - e.g. he really ought to have saved Rooney's shot last week as it was in the centre of the goal.

Having said that, he definitely deserves a testimonial.

I always thought the Goaly was part of the defence.!!!
He certainly has improved since the Everton Game many years ago.
And i saw him save a Penalty.

Then you have a better memory than me!

Pretty much what happened to Dougie isn't it?

Of the exact thread here, but has anyone sampled Jules restaurant? Was in any good? pricey? Where exactly is it? Missus bought me a tour of Selhurst for Xmas and I thought I'd combine this with a dinner at Jule's.

Apart from Jules we do not have any other really long term player on our books anymore. I do not see that Jules moving on benefits the Club all that much. We did not need Hennessey at three million quid when we are in dire need of a striker or somebody who can score goals. No I think there has been some pretty muddled thinking about all this and I hope we do not live to regret what we have spent on a back up keeper who has a dodgy track record.

I would play him against Chelsea, not a lot to lose as we expect nothing and who knows he might put in a heroes performance. Am not saying I want Jules to go anywhere, He has earnt his place and imo a new contract but surely we cannot afford both?.
