Agreed - was thinking the same thing myself when I was watching Gillette Soccer Saturday. We really need to pick something up sooner rather than later against a top side.

We have to remember that the other teams are yet to play the big sides away. At least we have them at home.

We really need to pick something up sooner rather than later against a top side. Sorry we don't need to concern ourselves with the top sides. We need to worry about the ones at the bottom. If we can beat the three sides below us albeit away we should be ok. It will be easier than beating the likes of man city at home. Anything else against west ham Swansea et al will be a bonus. Realistically though, we are going to lose one or two games against other bottom half teams throughout the run-in. They're all away from home and the harder games are at home. I don't think you can go all season just relying on points from the other 'minnows' you probably do need a result or two against the good sides to offset the inevitable bad result or two against the bad sides (ie, losing to Fulham at home).

Sorry we don't need to concern ourselves with the top sides. We need to worry about the ones at the bottom. If we can beat the three sides below us albeit away we should be ok. It will be easier than beating the likes of man city at home. Anything else against west ham Swansea et al will be a bonus.

Realistically though, we are going to lose one or two games against other bottom half teams throughout the run-in. They're all away from home and the harder games are at home. You just need to get more points than 3 other teams. How you get them and who you beat is completely irrelevant.

Looking at individual results that didn't go our way is just a way to wind yourself up. We know more or less what the points total will be, and it's completely down to us anyway.

Your second point is spot on, we can only get the points that are put in front of us... However it does matter how we get the, because it is all about depriving those around us of anything. I'd rather lose to Man City and beat Cardiff than the reverse....

Absolutely. The old phrase still rings true: games against teams around us are the key 'six pointers'. We get 3, it stops them getting 3. Losing to Man City isn't going to affect them in a relegation battle - I think they're safe now!

To make Southampton a must win is tough, they are a very good team and gave Liverpool a tough game, if it had not been for Suarez then may have got something. I'm a pessimist but I can see us not getting any points in March......desperately hope I'm wrong.

We have lost points to WBA, Norwich, Fulham and Swansea and have not made up any of those with any unexpected results. Others have dropped these kind of points also, but they have made up ground on us with the unexpected. If the Stoke results had gone as expected we would be five points clear of them, I really feel these points will be massive come the end.
