Needs an excuse to drive out Chamakh, he really isn't a Pulis type of player. Didn't see Chamakh dive.

Surely you're on a wind up?

He must be one of the only players that Pulis has consistently started since he took over.

No wind up. He is not a Pulis type player, everyone knows it, but he needs him for now. He criticised him for giving the ball away a lot, apparently, against Manure, when everyone else felt he was one of our best players bar that one tackle. Didn't single anyone else out and now announces he's fining him for a dive against Manure a week after the event when no one knows what incident he is talking about. No other manager bar Di Canio has taken any sort of public stance against his players and I would have no problem if he kept it in house.
Just the cynic in me, but I feel this is the start of the build up that will lead to him leaving and us ending up with someone like Crouch next season. If I'm wrong then I'll be happy.
Just watched weed vs Palace playoff again tonight so I might lighten up a bit later.

No, he accused him of diving today in the first half, no mention of the United game.

How exactly is he not a Pulis type player? Furthermore, what is a Pulis type player? It just seems to be a phrase thrown around when someone doesn't get picked (see Moxey, Gayle, Bannan).

Skillful thinking footballers. He likes his players to be workmanlike and able to follow instructions to the letter. He doesn't give them any freedom to express themselves and I base this on many years of watching the type of teams and football he produces.
Would you call KG a Brendan Rogers type of player or Jedi a Wenger type? If Pulis was starting with a clean sheet do you honestly think he would pick a player like Chamakh?

Ask Yannick Bolasie if he was given freedom to express himself today.

Yes after he played the first half as a secondary fullback at times deeper than the fullback and he had to be given freedom in the second half because.........................wait for it.............we were LOSING.
It's about the 4th time this season he's looked better as a forward than a fullback. All when we've had to chase the game.

Dangermouse just doesn't like Pulis, that is the end of it.

Can't deny that.
I saw our most successful ever spell under our Lord God Steve Coppell, but by the time he left I was totally hating long ball, percentage, aggressive football with a passion. In the early days with a poor defence, but Wright and Bright up front it was fun with 4-4 and 5-4 scorelines, but by the end you want to see some football being played. Ironically when SC left he changed his football philosophy and started playing more on the ground.
I honestly cannot abide to watch the type of s***e TP had them playing first half today and it actually made me angry. I'm not asking for total football or trying to outpass Arsenal, but some form of offence and players passing to each other not into large patches of vacant grass.
Sorry if that upsets some, but...........

Pulis got it wrong first half, which he has admitted and apologised for. He then corrected it, and is massively responsible for us picking up another important point.

Because swansea play with overlapping wing backs. How else do you defend against that, but to have your wingers track them back?

On SSN TP actualy said that JT and Tommo (I guess that means Tom Ince) will be fined by the club for diving, and that JT went to to ref and apologised after the game. He said Chamakh was also guilty of diving but he did'nt say he was being fined along with the other two.

IMO TP is a very good manager, his interviews are insinctive and professional, he clearly admits it was his fault in the first half. He changed it around and I say well done to him. Not many managers would admit they'd got things wrong and even less would stand up and say they their players were cheating.

The more I see and hear from TP, the more impressed I have become.

Sorry if that upsets some, but...........

It doesn't upset me, the fact is we don't have players capable of playing that way. Burley tried and we got spanked, Holloway was the same and most of the time we got a thumping. Pulis is getting the best out of what he has, a side made up of very little cash and a few players actually of a Premier League standard. Have you noticed that unless it is dry and sunny 80% of our players need 2 touches to bring the ball under control or pass to a team mate? What we have is a group that lacks skill but has serious mental toughness that kind of makes up for it.
Under Coppell the playing field was pretty level with regards to scouting and buying players. Now, those players that are fast and skillful are snapped up at an early age or for silly money, the only way we can compete is to try and produce them through our academy which is tough in itself. Pulis knows how to set a team up that can be far inferior to their opponent but still grind a result out and although it may not be pretty at times, it works. We need cash to change any sort of system we strive for (I'm pretty sure 2010 want some attractive football too) and the only way to get money now is to be in the Prem come hell or high water unless someone wants us as a toy.
I guess I will suffer the 'Pulis' style if it keeps us up because I actually think he has a very good technical ability and can change things when they aren't going right, many managers cannot. I am interested to see what a real difference he can make with a full transfer window and pre-season. I think many may be surprised.

Nope didn't get it wrong at all its all part of his game plan mate, sit back and defend and watch an already tired Swansea go from tired to absolutely knackered then launch a complete onslaught. It almost paid off for 3 points but I am happy with the point.

It had me fooled too.

It's the great footballing knowledge of Mr Tony Pulis at its best.

The whole reason I wanted Tony Pulis as our manager is because I wanted a manager significantly clever'er tactically than most of the other managers in the PL not some foreign fella whose name sounds good but in reality isn't all that. Aitor Karanka comes to mind...

We said the same under Coppell. Once we've established ourselves we will change, but after 4 years in the old first division and then the prem we didn't. Stoke fans were hoping the same and it didn't happen. He plays the way he plays and will sign the players that suit that style. I cannot help it, but I hate it as much as constantly passing sideways and my opinion will not change. As for people claimimg it was all part of the plan to be s***e and let Swansea wear themselves out...puleeese. Also that sit back and soak it up plan hasn't really worked so far this season has it?

Hmmm...debating playing style at this time of the season in our league position ? I'm happy with any style that gives us a better chance of gaining the points we need to stay up. And I think that largely, TP is getting it right.

As for diving...I thought Thomas hesitated that split second and the chance was gone and then he tried to win a penalty. Seen worse ( Ashley Young for example ).

And when it comes to winning cheap free kicks / diving, I thought our players could learn a lot today from the opposition....they go to ground oh so easily, got what they deserved in the end.

Agreed Icepick, of course its worked at what point this season have we had the better possession. Therefore every match we have played, we soaked up more pressure than our opponents because they have the ball. Then we counter and on the occasion score and nick the points. TP knew what he had to work with as a team. He worked on the team spirit the team ethics, defending and how to counter at pace. Now we was never going to set this league alight with our squad, but what TP has done is maximise our strengths and consolidated them into a unit. Has hasn't played a long ball game and to the contrary Palace usually pass their way out of defence, so the Stoke style argument is cr-p. We was a mid table to play off championship side that punched way above our weight last season. Not 1 pundit gave us a chance to stay up, now not 1 of them same pundits are backing us to go down. Thats down to Tony Pulis and CPFC2010 whether you like it or not Dangermouse

Couldn't agree more. Additionally, the argument that TP would stock Palace with Stoke-type players doesn't hold much water. He had the opportunity to bring in his own players in January. Ince, Ledley and Puncheon are hardly the prototypical neanderthals you might have expected. Secondly, Palace are currently 6th in the PL Fair Play Table. You'd expect us to be around 19th with Stoke if the intent was to emulate their style.
