I wouldnt want to play every opther sunday thou, and would interfere with tiredness and injuries and i imagine certain relegation, stil, swapping 60 million pounds for about a million and a cup seems fair with no guarantee of coming back up for years!

Most clubs lose out because the difference in money per place in the PL far outweighs any gains in the Europa (unless you get to the final / win it)and most clubs finish lower than the previous season

the dignified don't even enter in the game

As it currently stands......

Top 4 qualify for CL, 5th placed qualifies for EL. As City have now won the League Cup & assuming they still finish in the top 4, the 6th placed team qualify for the EL.

IF, any of the top 4 win the FA cup the 7th placed club will also qualify for the EL & NOT the losing finalists regardless of where they finish in the league.

Hope that's cleared things up for everyone.

BTW, it was Samsunspor we played in the 'intertwobob' cup & we lost both times, I went to both game & was one of the 'official' 48 CPFC fans in Turkey.....

Scary day/night I can tell you

and im not even sure winning it comes close to higher uyp in premier, bit like the fa cup, love to win it but think clubs make about a million if they do, id much rather win fa cup than europa league!

I was on holiday in Gumbet,Turkey when we played them.
I said to the local barman I might go and watch my team, and told him where we were playing.
He said it would take me 24 hours to get there.......Jesus Turkey is a big country.

I remember it being Trabzonspor Venables had just bought a job lot of players from somewhere (nothing dodgy about it) most of them played and we were beaten possibly 2-0 and lost the away leg similarly. We did finish the previous season 3rd and Liverpool somehow did get in, moanu won the cupwinners cup. We lost I think Thomas, Wright and Bright and went from genuine contenders to nowhere men. Truly hated that season.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

..it was Samsunspor both 0-2, not sure about the job lot of players Venaballs got, but the players that played in both were.. Neil Shipperley, Jamie Smith,
Hermann Hreidarsson, Steven Thomson, Marc Edworthy,
Mat Jansen, Hayden Mullins and Dean Austin, I don't think Bright and Thomas left same time as Wright....but yes, it was a truly horrible depressing time.
