Are we getting slightly picky?

One of the best opporunities to have consecutive premier league season in the clubs history and we're worrying about short term playing style

Its not pretty, we all know that

But can we not give up that want for 9 games for another season in the PL?

I sounds slightly defeatist but were only Crystal Palace, Prmeier League survival would never we easy, and here, we can't have our cake and eat it.

Long term, i do really see the need for Bannan Williams etc to be integrated though but lets cross that bridge when it comes

Its not about the style as such for me - I don't believe this style is the magic bullet that will help us stay up

Do you want me to regurgitate the stats we've all heard a million times over about points under open playing Holloway and tight, defensive Pulis?

If you were offered at the start of the season that after 29 games we would be 6 points off the top half we all know what your answer wouldve been

Nope we all know that and but for Holloway we would be healthier BUT everyone keeps banging on about Norwich have such and such, Sunderland have such and such and most seem to have us a nailed on 3 points at Fulham..this casual reliance blindly refuses to see we play for the vast majority of games on our own 18 yard line and allow opportunity after opportunity to whoever we play, whether homr or away - Sunderland, a poor side still managed to have chances today which in reality should have gone in whilst we offered nothing going forward

To my eyes our negativity for virtually 90 minutes will not be enough - we are playing not to lose, others are playing to win

A draw is all well and good but if like today WBA and Fulham both pick up 3 points, we then have to find 3 draws to match that result, whilst they will have other oppos for 3 points whilst we go out to defend and then see what happens

We have limitations of course and man for man we are poor in comparison but to go down like this is painful amd if we do how many on here will change their tune and wonder 'what if' we had gone for it more at Sunderland, Cardiff or Fulham ??????

Fair point, yet historical evidence points to the conclusion that the teams that survive relegation are those that concede the fewest, not score the most.

I think if we stay up TP will have a massive clear out of players. We're just not good enough. If we stay up it will be because of all the farcical managerial merry go rounds going on that we have been able to take advantage of.

I posted this 3 months ago and still stand by it......Pulis is doing his stuff and IMO it aint pretty and is what many of us anticipated when he was appointed.
At half time I observed Barry B and Jonny W passing the ball to each other going through the motions with Dwight Gayle standing there looking somewhat dejected...It does sadden me cos I feel these are probably out 3 most creative and exciting players other than yannick, who due to their physical stature probably dont have much of a future at Selhurst.I sincerely hope I'm wrong but i ask myself do I really want to watch this week in week out just to stay in the premiership? Last season was some of the most attractive and enjoyable stuff we've seen at Selhurst for years.Yes its nice to see us out of the bottom three, albeit temporarily but im not sure this is bearable indefinitely.

Interesting reading, particularly about whether it's worth this terrible style just to stay in the league. I'll except it this season though currently I don't see how we can win a game but not if this time next year we are still playing the same boring football.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

Came away from games against West Ham, Stoke and Hull telling friends we were rubbish and the game lacked any quality but at least we scraped a win. Similar the game against West Brom.

Now we're playing even more negatively.

Irrespective of what division we're in it's s*** to watch and sincerely hope Pulis is not around next season.

Unfortunately i don't get the chance to go to many games but the ones I have seen at Selhurst have been poor in quality, if not entertainment. We all knew what we were getting from Pulis, and if we do happen to stay up we all know we will play exactly the same way next season, with the same type of players.
Personally the best thing about the PL year has actually been off the pitch, yes you lot, and that remains whether we are in the PL or championship. Yes if we go down we will lose the glory hunters but the heart of the club will remain. That said if that style of play continues in the championship it will test the patience of many, and crowds will drop like a stone.

Personally, irrespective of what happens at the end of he season I think we should thank Pulis for his efforts and look towards the future with a manager and team where players like Williams are welcomed and cherished. Im sure Parish feels this too, in his heart.

Some "supporters" sicken me. Be careful what you wish for. Going on about entertainment. Passing the ball on the floor and losing at home 4 1 to Fulham is not entertainment yet some are focussed on the style of football with deadwood s*** that Pulis has inherited. Not his fault. Stoke were defensive but were very good in the final third and if we stay up that is how we will be. I look forward to the day when we attack with pace and power and heart in the premier league like Stoke did, but to even get this opportunity we have to scrape through with the s*** we currently have.

What exactly has Williams done to merit a place in our starting 11.

Support the team and don't moan at the games East End. Just expressing an opinion about the football.

I thought Williams was playing for Ipswich today?
