Annoyingly my last couple of posts have been a bit of a rant but there are things that I just don't understand.
yes we got a point away which is great but again I feel like we missed a glorious opportunity.
We went up there not to lose, of course we couldnt afford to lose and we didnt but we played 3rd bottom in the league, they are there for a reason! If we had gone with some attacking intent we could easily have taken 3 points there. Why pay 1million pounds for a player like tom ince and then starve him of possession in the area of the field he can make a difference? We gave a poor Sunderland team hope today by sitting back. We were horrifric, lets not sugar coat it, passes astray, not holding hte ball when get it etc and they still couldnt do anything, so why didnt we get at them? I can't say their back 4 are solid, Wes Brown, John O'Shea, Phil Bardsley and Marcus Alonso, I wouldnt say any of those players are up there with the Vidic's/Agger's and Kompanys of this league. We went to Spurs and destroyed them in teh first half, we looked like a team that could be challenging for a Europa league spot in that 45 mins. Since that game we have been awful in every first half apart from West Brom. Look at how good we were against Swansea away, people were waxing lyrical, why not pick up from that. When we play like that we trouble teams, not like how we played yesterday. We are going to need to shock a big team at some point, evbery single one of the teams around us has picked up points against a big team apart from us, we give them the ball ans day 'go on then' we will get what we deserve which is absolutely nothing.
Newcastle next week. They have nothing to play for really, they just lost to Fulham who are even worse than Sunderland! They are another team that if they are not doign well the crowd get on their back and with a team full of moody Frenchy's this is what we have to try and do. I'm not saying go gung ho and leave us exposed byt at least give them something to think about.
That brings me to KG. If someone can tell me what he brings to the team then please do. He was 2nd to every ball, misplaced 90% of his passes and got caught on the ball the other times. For a defensive midfielder he is constantly stuck 40yards from goal with Ledley who is supposed to be in an attacking postion. He then gets himself in a good position at the end of the game and doesnt even work the keepoer?!!?! This is the premier league, he is not premier league quality and it is imperitive that either bannen if fit or guediora starts next week and KG is no where near the team.
I am also sick of people saying we are overachieving. Yes we all know we have done superbly well to be in this position but now we are here lets not throw that away by what is looking like us being scared. If we have a go at the right times against the right teams and go down, so be it, we just weren't good enough. If we go down though trying to scrape a 1-0 by giving every team we play against 75% of the ball then did we really give ourselves a chance. In the premier league teams will beat us if we do that, pure and simple
Hopefully this is my last rant of the season,I am still optimistic, Pulis is a superb manager, we have a good team that can play good football and we have games that we can win. I will be backing them to the hilt at rediculous o'clock in the morning to the nail biting end. COYP and here is to my next post being all about how good we are.

Good rant.

However, back in October we all thought we'd be relegated by now. We have won eight games which is three more than I predicted for the whole season.

The way we play is not enjoyable but overall it is quite effective. We have a chance of staying up which if we succeed means a big transfer budget for 2014/15 and better players.

It's all about the bigger picture.

Fact is we only have three or four players who would get regularly picked for even just the other lower Prem clubs.

It's a miracle really we aren't down already.

A very good rant but Pulis is what he is for a reason. He's gauged what we have and decided to play it exceedingly boring and safe. I can't work out why KG gets a game - I thought/hoped/prayed Ledley was brought in to replace him!

Strange though we seem to have come off the boil of late - given the team's initial response to Holloway going - I thought we'd be in a better position by now.

I actually think we can play some nice football on occasion. Hopefully we'll get to see some soon but as long as we stay up...

Once Chamakh is fit and can play again, then hopefully we will see him and Murray and whit habit more of a goal threat. Yesterday at Sunderland however, it was a simple but effective plan: how do we get out of here with a point?

Yes agree whole heartedly. I think if we go out to a match with our thoughts on soaking up pressure for as long as we can and then try to hit them on the break we are always going to be playing second fiddle. I presume Pulis does not have faith in his team to go on the attack from the word go and he sees us attaining safety by way of his defensive plan. May be this is fine sometimes but not every week . There should be plans for pitches like there are horses for courses and he certainly should never have entertained his idea against Sunderland who were more woeful than us. Only Pulis can change our attitude and our fortunes and if he sees KG as somebody who can save our bacon then I don't think he is ever going to change his mind about how we handle the final run in.

The problem for me is not the tactics that Pulis is employing , you only need to look at how much better off we are in the league to see that it is sort of working, it is how the players are performing that is the problem. There have been many posts about our very sub standard passing and herein lies the problem. To shut out the opposition with the players we have in the eyes of Pulis is the best way to survive but he also wants us to break and score goals. The fact is the players are not able to pass the ball means we are unable to break out of our defensive mode and create .problems at the other end.
Pulis has got the tactics correct it is our players that if they were able to pass the ball better would make us more effective and better to watch.

I dont understand some of the people on here, I really dont.

Do any of you think, maybe, we're just experiencing a bit of a dip in form? This happens to every single f***ing football team in the world. Things stop going your way, everything goes a bit stale and confidence goes a bit - it's happened to every team this season in the league (more or less). Did you honestly think when pulis came in and instantly did well we'd continue in that vein of form for the rest of the season and comfortably finish mid table?

Yesterday we weren't great on the ball, but thankfully our defence and jules were excellent and we got a good point away from home. It's not like pulis tells them all to give the ball away everytime they get it, we're just not playing particularly well at the moment, i'm sure we'll get a lucky break or an excellent game where everything clicks and we'll go on another little run. And if we dont, c'est la vie, we've got the worst team in the league relegation isnt the worst thing that's ever happened.

This obession with KG is getting a bit out of hand i feel as well. At the end of the day, he's a palace player and has been for years and he does a good job for the team, I always hate it when fans get on the backs of their own players, it's like arsenal acting like bendtner is the worst player in the world, it's just unnecessarily harsh and wrong. KG does offer a lot defensively, he's not the best player in the world and I personally wouldnt have him first on the team sheet but i always feel more confident of getting a clean sheet with him and jedi sitting than if bannan were next to him for example. And the miss yesterday is being blown out of proportion, having played football in the wind yesterday morning i know how difficult it was to judge and how much the wind carried the ball, in fact i think the wind was pushing against kg and if there was no wind, it may have even nestled in the corner. Lay off him.

Messi, you're good, but you can't hit a ball like ambrose
