Food for thought.

I don't think anyone on here would disagree that racists are of a lower intelligence.

Therefore, what is your point on posting on this thread?

Whoever wrote that is barking up the wrong tree with the intelligence/racist link, but in regard to the 'very right wing' - "Lack of empathy is one of the most striking features of people with narcissistic personality disorder"

Now that definitely rings true.

Technically that should be education, rather than intelligence. Intelligence isn't quantifiable, where as education is.

Of course its also a correlation, when its education, because a large number of factors effect access to education and educational achievement.

What is always curious though is why poor and lower working class people vote for very conservative parties (such as the Republicans, UKIP etc).

Can't really argue but then the other side of the coin is fruitlessly bemoaning the plight of the less fortunate. I don't know how you'd classify that trait other than boring and hypocritical.

Its not that curious.

People in that rung of society don't want to be there and some believe that the best way out is via free market economics.

some of those people also feel alienated from the left because of causes that they believe have no affect of their lives (same sex marriage) or are dictated to them from 'ivory towers' in Camden and Islington.

There is a detachment from the left to the those in the class brackets you highlight. A feeling that the Labour Party is now viewed as a place a middle class kid can forge a safe career.

I also believe that immigration has forged a divide between the left and its supposed core support. Its core support often regard immigrants as a threat to both income and community and resent those who tell them what to think about the subject.

I think the final point is that people are free to think what they want in this country and the whole 'class traitor' thing you are alluding to is just disregarded by some as hogwash.

This is not my opinion, just observation and from articles I have read.

I'd say for both very far left and very right applies the above.

People I have met on the far left only appear to care about power and have very little empathy with those they are saying they represent.

I think that is a dangerous assumption to make that just because someone is racist (in the proper meaning of the word) they are a dumb ass. Hitler being a case in point, Mad as a box of frogs..most certainly. Lower intelligence level nope.

Gooing back through time History has had hundreds of so called racists but that doesnt make them thick. It makes them incredibley ignorant and shortsighted but not thick.

And before anyone starts accusing me of defending racist behaviour IM NOT. just saying that racism doesnt go hand in hand with a lower IQ.

I wasn't thinking in terms of class traitor, but why would someone actively vote for and support Political parties that really don't have any of their best interests at heart.

I wasn't really thinking in terms of the Conservative party, who although I dislike, aren't really all that bad. I was thinking more why anyone who is poor or working class would vote for something like the US Republican party.

Whilst I'm no fan of the Torys, they've always had policies which in theory and usually practice have been aimed at social mobility and improvement.

But being poor(or less well off) and voting Republican seems like being Black and voting BNP.

Indeed, although he wasn't as intelligent as he liked to think he was, otherwise he'd have listened to his generals more, and insisted a lot less. Hitler was also surprisingly quite shy.

Of course Nazi Racism is also a bit more complicated and complex in that it doesn't really compare to modern racism - Arguably the Nazi's were more into Eugenics and anti-Semitism and anti-Slavic than racial hatred. They had fairly good relations with groups in India, the Middle East and their view of Africa wasn't radically different than that of a lot of the Empires that preceeded them.

Indeed, even old William Wilberforce, by modern standards held some rather questionable views of black people (despite campaigning against the slave trade).

Indeed, anyone who's ever read Karl Marx can attest that the reason that the left may be more educated is the necessity of having had to read Kapital with the aid of several different dictionaries (Economic, Normal and Philosophical).

My suspicion is that the main difference is that the left wing ideologies tend to be embraced either through educational exposure or through unions.

I suspect that the average IQ of the left, if you removed liberals, wouldn't be too different. Its just that the liberals tend to get bundled in with the left.

Certainly, in the Socialist Party, the levels of Education and IQ, wasn't all that much different than that of my parents and family (In fact a surprising number of people I met had previously belonged to the National Front and far Right groups).

Interesting article on what leaving the EU could mean and how Tories covered up several pro EU reports.

As you are taking this thread off track by talking about parties other than UKIP, remind me, what did 'credible' TUSC start life as?

Clue: was it as a group called 'yes2eu' or 'no2eu'?

I thought it would add to the debate as ukip are anti eu.
If I'm not mistaken, you've mentioned the greens and TUSC on more than one occasion in this thread, so one could ask the same of you.
As someone who wants out of the eu, what did you make of the article?
