A mass of scousers and locals getting aled up before the game; loads of travelling fans without tickets trying to force entry; and this being our last home game and LFC with a chance [or not] of the title, both sets of supporters likely to invade the pitch.

I suspect more than a chance of a risk of public disorder so upping the police presence is a no-brainer.

Oh and don't local law always travel with away fans?

How very Retro 80's...cant wait - I shall dust off my Sergio Tacchini tracksuit for Monday

Seth the Filas coming out of the Wardrobe and I am going to stand in the Whitehorse cause im f***ing hard and want to bash some scousers skull and examine the massive space between their ears.

Interesting discussion in my local last night, (my local now being in Liverpool since I moved here last August - although I remain a staunch Eagle).

Apparently a number of Chelsea fans have bought tickets to our match in order to duff up the Liverpool fans around them. Should bring all the joys of the old days of football hooliganism into the 21st century.

Not sure where they get this info from but it sounds like utter rubbish to me. Scousers playing the victim already and nothing has even happened yet!

If the Chelsea fans were so desperate to "duff them up" why not just head to Trafalgar Square where they will all be having lunch?

I explained that it was just a topic of conversation in the pub. Apparently Chelsea fans have been bragging about it and it's being talked about on the RAOTL forum. They're not playing the victim at all, (an unnecessarily unpleasant comment given what has happened to them in the past,) nor were they looking forward to a brawl.

They're just looking forward to a good match - lots of respect for Palace and our fans.

Crystal Palace - dull it's not!

What a load of bollicks. So Chelsea fans manage to buy tickets to a game that sold out weeks ago. Chelsea are like Fulham these days and talk is all they probably do now. Every big game we get this kind of nonsence and nothing ever happens.

Still never mind eh? Didn't happen to them because they're still alive. Enough of this Liverpool arselicking cobblars.

But they were certainly not at any point part of the cause of the problems and horrors of Hillsborough.

The mistake at Hillsborough - or one of the many, at least - was to pretend that this wasn't knowable in advance and then plan for it. It was compounded when they made every conceivable wrong move once the problem had mushroomed.

Absolutely. The program which aired about Hillsborough in the USA on ESPN made it clear that the authorities made every mistake possible in preparing for that cup semi. They relieved an experienced commander and put an inexperienced one in his place. He was in the control box and had and excellent view of Leppings Lane but refused to look. He ordered the exit gate opened and then lied and said it was broken open by "supporters." His incompetence had been covered up until 2012. My experience as a Selhurst Park Steward from 1990-92 tells me that the overwhelming number of Liverpool supporters are smashing blokes and gals. In fact, I still communicate with several that I met all those years ago. We talk about the 1990 semi-final and are in total agreement that it was one of the best football matches we ever saw. We talk about how we like Dalgliesh but loath Souness. I apologize to them for Hicks and Gillette and they thank me for Henry and Werner (Fenway). We tease each other over which is the better anthem, Glad All Over or You'll Never Walk Alone. I treasure their friendship as a link to that which I left behind when I returned to the USA along with my many Palace friends. Why the police think they need to be inside the ground on Monday night is anyone's guess. I remember that with the score tied at 3-3, the West Midlands Police lined the perimeter of the Villa Park pitch even though the match was headed to extra time. We're not dealing with too many football savvy people here, especially with the loss of SGT John "Ginger" Boldock and Chief Super George "Guvnor" Crawford.

Same could be said about the Police allowing Liverpool fans to attack Juventus fans by not segregating them properly.Might sound harsh but Liverpool fans only ever consider themselves innocent victims and happily ignore or forget the bad behaviour that follows them everywhere. Chelsea fans who got bottles smashed in their faces in Liverpool can testify to that. Our fans are no angels either and if there were no police in the ground on Monday I don't think the stewards would cope.No doubt we will glorify in beating them and scoucers are very bad losers.

I follow a lot of threads to see what's on the minds of fellow Eagles fans but I'm not a frequent contributor. Having followed this thread I can't help but think that there must surely be better targets for fury than:
- Willo's preoccupation with the "standing" debate (someone even called for a moderator to block him - snitch or what!)
- the character of Liverpool supporters (I seem to recall a humble reaction to being defeated by us in the FA cup semi final and a respectful response to our supporters when we sang through the 9-0 defeat at Anfield)
Come on, we can do without infighting and gratuitous insults.

I don't think that there will be many scouse coming on Monday, as it is a late kick off and they will all have to get home for work in the morning, except for the ones on the Jeremy Kyle show

I support Scotland, Hibs and the Palace, no glory hunters here!!!!!!

PLEASE SIR, CAN I HAVE A PIE!!
