This isn't just a left v right argument.

Margaret Hosge has some questions to answer

Bryn Alyn was on Labours watch

Too right it isn't.

Margaret Hodge was on 'watch' whilst wide spread abuse was occurring through Islingtons Socials Services - she was, under Blair and Brown, Minister for Children.

Hewitt, Dromey and Harman as widely reported where enmeshed in the PIE movement in the 70's.

Elm Guest House names a number of Labour Party members as well as other (Sinn Fein being another) as alleged abusers.

Cyril Smith was a senior Liberal and abuser of children.

Trying to score cheap political points off the systematic abuse of children on a football website to prove ones 'right on' Ben Elton-esque 'Mrs Thatch' credentials - disgraceful, lame and cheap.

Nice one Sash, very well said the abused kids are what matters,no what political views the cunds that are abusing happen to have.

Agreed. I'd say that those involved in covering things up are almost as culpable as the abusers.
Teachers and social workers are being threatened with 5 years jail for not reporting any concerns, will this extend to the 'establishment' ?

But you are the one who started this thread Nick.....Called Thatcher and Seville.

I started it as a thread on its own as Thatcher / Saville had been linked in another thread. Maggie (rest in piss) repeatedly called for Saville to be knighted.

Talking of Thatch... [Link]

Haven't you got some marking to be getting on with?

David Icke had Cameron's number back in February 2012. [Link]

Cameron should stand down if he had any moral compass.

I'll let you post links about left wing cover upperers.
Fact is, Thatcher is lauded as a great woman when what is coming to light tarnishes her irrevocably in my book. Cameron is our great land's leading politician, what image does it project to the rest of the world if he's found to be covering up such gross criminality.
Any MP found knowingly covering up paedophilia should serve time.

I don't care which party these b******s were from, I just pray that the victims of abuse get the justice they deserve. It's been a long time coming, we can all agree on that much.

All 24 childrens homes in Islington in the 70's and 80's were infiltrated by paedos who acted as abusers and suppliers to some powerful people it appears after doing a lot of googling.

Those poor kids.

Those others who were too 'career busy' to get involved and help them whether at the BBC, in the Tory Government, the police, or the councils are/were nothing less than shameful scum.

Also just read a victim's story when young identifying a female Tory MP of the time as one of his abusers. A major eggspose if you get my drift. Whether that one is true or not who knows but she was well connected to some of the undoubted nasty nonces.

Not a majoresque figure or any suggestion of MP's being involved but interesting stuff (admittedly from wiki) about Margaret Hodges' role when allegations of abuse in Islington surfaced in the 1990's.

"In 1985, Demetrious Panton wrote to Islington Council to complain about the abuse that he had suffered while in the council's care in the 1970s and 1980s. He did not receive an official reply until 1989, in which the council denied responsibility.

In 1990, Liz Davies, a senior social worker employed by the borough and her manager, David Cofie, raised concerns about sexual abuse of children in Islington Council care. Correspondence between Hodge and the director of social work indicates that she declined a request for extra resources to investigate. Instead, Cofie and Davies investigation was ended by council officials in May 1990; this appears to have been after the Police said they had found no evidence of abuse, although the two social workers continued to work on the allegations in their own time. In early 1992, Davies (not to be confused with the barrister and former Islington councillor) resigned from her post and requested that Scotland Yard investigate the allegations.

The Evening Standard, again in 1992, then began reporting on the allegations of abuse in Islington's children's homes, the initial article of which Hodge described as a "sensationalist piece of gutter journalism", although she has since apologised for this outburst, asserting that her officials had given her false information. Shortly afterwards Hodge resigned to pursue a career with Price Waterhouse. In 1995, the "White Report" into sexual abuse in Islington Care Homes reported that the council had failed adequately to investigate the allegations and blamed its doctrinaire interpretation of equal opportunities and fear of being branded homophobic.

In 2003, following Hodge's appointment as Minister for Children, Panton went public with his allegation that he was abused in Islington Council care and had repeatedly raised this issue with no effect. He accused Hodge of being ultimately responsible for the abuse that he suffered. Davies also went public with the issues that she had raised concerns about while working for the council. Following a media campaign conducted by several national newspapers calling for her to resign from her new post, she responded to Panton by letter, in which she apologised for referring to him as 'an extremely disturbed person' in an earlier letter to the BBC chairman Gavyn Davies, which was broadcast on Radio 4's Today programme. A formal apology to Panton was made in the High Court on 19 November 2003 by Hodge's barrister, along with a payment of £30,000.

Why are you and nick trying to make child abuse an exercise of political point scoring or personal attack, other than against those who carried it out? This thread is pathetic.

As you brought it up, lets look at Islington:

From 1964 to 1998 Labour controlled the council, apart from a 3-year period of Conservative control from 1968 to 1971, and a brief period of SDP control between 1981 and 1982 following the defection of Labour councillors.

Optimistic as ever

As I said earlier, anyone sweeping heinous acts under the carpet, whatever political hue, should be charged.
I mentioned Cameron as he is PM.
