I still have a clear mental picture of him calmly shooting that crucial 4th goal past the Wrexham keeper that night in 1977 - for 13 years that game was undisputedly the best I'd ever seen. RIP Jeff

A player in the Le Tissier mould. Deceptively slow and very skilful. Played for us during what has been, for me so far, around the best of times to be a Palace fan for sheer excitement. 1977. Those three years from FA Cup semi to winning the league in front of 57,000 at Selhurst (51, 801? Fvck that) - 1976-79 - well any player involved then has a special place. RIP Jeff. You were a good and underrated player.
RIP Jeff Bourne

Very sad. Just a little overweight when he signed for us but he made such a difference partnering Harkouk (Swindlehurst went on the wing). Such a brilliant match at Wrexham and I remember being kicked as a lot of others were by their police on the way back to the station. I think he played European football with Derby before signing for us.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

That has made me sad. The signing of Kevin Philips in 2013 reminded me of his signing. Jeff scored vital goals for the club and really made a difference to the promotion push. I was at the Wrexham game on 11 May 1977, a memorable day. Thank you Jeff.
Football, like life, isn't about getting what you want or even deserve. It's about appreciating what you have. Crystal Palace. |

Met Jeff a few years ago when he ran The Holly Bush in Linton. I went there to get my Palace book signed by him.. a very nice man.

I've just seen this on the Palace website He had Motor Neurone Disease, which I didn't know till now. My father had that and I've been fundraising for it for the last 10 years or so. If anyone would like to make a donation to this most noble cause, in attempts to find a cure for the most devastating and awful of all illnesses, please click below....... Thank you to anyone that does so.
