It's embarrassing they use phrases such as 'human suffering' When I think human suffering I think of orphans in Africa wondering where the next meal is coming from Tbf there are people in this country who also don't know where their next meal is coming from. Well, at least one person's been taken in by this garb. This is a country where everything is freely available and everyone has access to basic needs by some form of another. In the 3rd world people genuinely have nothing and for people in this country to try and compare themselves in the same way only highlights their personal selfishness and are an embarrassment to themselves and humankind So you don't believe there are children, as well as adults, that don't know where their next meal is coming from in this country? There Probably are, the point I am making is there are plenty of places they can go to get one. Not so in the 3rd world

Gusset has got his 'scoop' from a very well known, well respected independent news organ who have done their utmost to publish an impartial story and not just publish the ideologically slanted, anal discharge than some mad as a bat self serving loon has provided them with in order to throw s***e at the government.

BTW, good to see you don't disagree with me.
The vast majority of those leaving are finding the job too stressful. Take my word for it, as union divisional Secretary I dealt with many many cases of bullying and burn out. But you won't believe me. I could say the sky was blue and the earth round and you'd disagree. This thread however is about the DWP...
This is endemic in the public service. and you know this how?

Can you not just claim unemployment? There are a lot of cnuts 'on the sick' too. We all know them. Harsh when they're getting away with it and others aren't looked after. Pretty poor there isn't a reliable system but it's always going to be too skewed in favour of pisstakers or against those genuinely in need, same with any other benefit, and you can't give from one without taking from the other, unless of course you just tax the rich, except anyone in the public sector earning a fortune, if they exist. Edited by johnfirewall (07 Mar 2015 9.47pm) Disability Living Allowances are supposed to make up the additional costs incurred from being disabled, which can stack up really quickly. This has been an area of dubious claims in recent years from both sides of the political fence, first with the ATOS fiasco and then with the changes to DLA that resulted in massive delays. Typically these payments gravitate around socialization. My friend basically ended up living in her house for three months, dependent entirely on people giving her a lift where possible, because she is incapable of driving and has very limited access to public transport (having to wheelchair a long distance to the nearest bus stop).

You find someone who has mental health problems, and is on benefits, and you then blame the health problems on the benefits not being big enough.

You find someone who has mental health problems, and is on benefits, and you then blame the health problems on the benefits not being big enough. I think you'll find, if you check recent history, that The Labour Party introduced a crack down using ATOS that resulted in people with Mental Health problems being classed as fit to work, even though medical professionals disagreed. In many issues of mental health, financial stress is a factor, especially as a trigger in Disorders of Affect and compulsion.

Plenty of people with no history of mental illness have killed themselves as a result of severe financial issues. The assertion that cuts are driving people over the edge could equally apply to any area of the budget adversely affecting someone's finances.

The difference is I guess that in the first group, you know that its a factor and that their income available is already very limited and they're prone to mental health problems. They're also affected by cuts as well, as typically mental health provision has a tendency to be higher up the list of cuts. Of course one would generally argue that maybe that second group are people who probably needed psychiatric intervention in the period leading up to their suicide. But the difference is, I guess that you wouldn't know in advance the possible outcomes. Also the effects of say a raise in taxation, is much less likely to result in a dramatic incident of loss, given the flexibility available to spending to someone who is working and someone living on disability benefits (after all we saw no suicides over mean tested child benefit). Of course if you're targeting the people on low incomes, you do risk such an outcome. However at the higher end of the income scales, its easier to adapt, so the impact will generally be less dramatic.
