Four-fifths of public want Green party in TV leaders’ debates – poll

ICM poll shows most respondents across political spectrum support involvement of Greens in televised election debates

[Link]

Where do you find this nonsense and why do you actually believe it?

Not even 80% of the public vote.

It's an ICM poll. They're a renowned polling organisation. How is it nonsense?

What has the number of people voting got to do with it? It's a poll about what people think about the TV election debates.

It's not on their website.

It is clearly nonsense, look at the phrasing of the question alone. Nothing to do with what people "want".

It's might as well be asking should or shouldn't they be allowed to exist as a party.

The poll wasn't carried out by ICM but was verified by them. I imagine that's why it's not on their website.

After a preamble, the question was: "Do you think that the leader of the Green party should or should not also be invited to join in the ITV leaders’ debate?” That is clearly about whether people want the Greens to be included or not.

Excellent news. Green support is still small compared to say, ukip, but it's growing fast, and they may have a part to play in any future coalition after thew GE, along with the SNP & possibly Plaid Cymru.

So you keep telling us.

She might stay as an MP, but they're not holding on to the council.

She might or she might not; we'll see at the election. The council is another matter, but all parties have f*cked up councils before. Doesn't disallow them from ever standing in elections again, otherwise there'd be no parties left at all.

Not without an option for I don't care, it isn't.

It's a closed question and doesn't reflect what people "want".

I'd err on the side of them having nothing after the next set of electionsm except MEPs because anyone can get in there.

Ok if you don't believe that poll try this one, carried out by YouGov in October:

Most voters want UKIP leader Nigel Farage included – and, if he is, nearly as many want the Green party leader included as well

[Link]

You can keep dismissing polls you disagree with but it's clear most people do want the Greens involved in the TV debates.

Time will tell and we'll know in May. Until then it's all just interesting speculation and debate.

Greens are a minority council in Brighton, some greens have said that Labour and Tory councillors have been colluding to undermine them.

That doesn't even make sense.

"To determine which sort of format respondents preferred, YouGov gave them three options to choose from: A) the recently proposed format (described above); B) three debates, all including Cameron, Miliband, Clegg and Farage; three debates including only Cameron, Miliband and Clegg; or three debates including only Cameron and Miliband.

B) seems to cover everything?

Ps Their font, particularly the punctuation, is terrible.

Pick holes as much as you like. As I said, a majority of the public clearly want them in the debate, however much you don't like the idea.

What do you mean pick holes?

Look at what I've quoted. B) has three options in itself, or they've cocked it up.

Seth, go and look at what was posted on this very site when it was discussed. You may surprise yourself.

I mean you seem to be splitting hairs - about the font or punctuation, for example - in relation to the polls, trying to find faults with them so you don't have to take account of what they're actually saying, because you don't agree with it.

I don't know where you're asking me to look. Can you be more specific?
