Ched Evans served 2 and a half years for rape,he's victim will have to live with the rape for ever.

so for her it's a life sentence, probably still having nightmares, should he sign for Oldham attendances will drop and sponsors will no longer sponsor the latics.

Sad day for football if this piece off sh!t is allowed to continue playing football.

Is he a piece of sh*t if he is actually innocent or has a favourable case review though???

The problem with rape cases such as this is you have one drunk party claiming consensual sex and one drunken party claiming rape - physical evidence is very thin on the ground so its essentially down to a group of 12 member of the general public picking their favourite of two stories.

The evidance against Evans were very strong,if he plays football again i hope someone breaks he's leg in his first game and he never plays football again.

I should've thought the FA had the power and the locus to determine exceptionally that a particular person was not a fit and proper person to participate in the Football League and to define criteria and processes according to which this may be determined.

I should also have thought that whatever his legal status his conduct and image bring football into disrepute. I think it's for the FA to safeguard the reputation of the sport, since individual clubs have a conflict of interest - on the one hand they want to avoid alienating their fans and sponsors, but on the other they also want to score goals and get up the league. What is more, clubs might (or might not) act in the interests of their own fan base but they won't give a to$$ about other clubs' fans - nobody here is acting in the interests of football supporters in general.

Would you lot be happy seeing him in a Palace shirt? I jolly well wouldn't.

It is incredibly difficult to secure a conviction for rape because of these reasons. For him to be convicted, the evidence must have been overwhelmingly against him.

Not sure where this review business has come from, his appeal was rejected?

One off Oldhams main sponsors have just ended their association with the club and two more are to follow.

it's rare that a player like Evans will be jeered by both sets off Fans week in and week out.

Still a piece of sh*t given he obtain a key card to get into a room where his friend was having sex with a girl so that he could have sex with her.

Doesn't make him a rapist though.

Where as McDonald had sex with a woman he had spent the night drinking with, and had come home with him - its reasonable to assume he believed he had valid consent by the actions involved.

He didn't though Jamie. In the words of the case summary posted earlier in the thread;

"The applicant and McDonald had spent the evening with friends visiting various licensed premises. At some time shortly before 4am McDonald became separated from the group of friends. The complainant seems to have wandered into his path."

She claims to remember nothing from when she left the club she was in until the following morning which for me provides the biggest question mark over the entire case. How can she have been able to consent to one and not the other given that they had sex with her consecutively?

Even assuming his guilt, which I'm not 100% comfortable with, I don't like the way the whole thing has turned into a social media based witch hunt. It's very dangerous when mob rule starts to take precedence over the justice system.

It's a damning indictment of the way our society has become when free speech and debate are no longer permitted by a culture of Twitter users who bully anybody who dares to take a different stance. I thought, in particular, the abuse of Judy Finnigan was a disgrace and the fact that her daughter suffered rape threats as a result showed how moronic and hypocritical these people really are.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he scores a goal. Will the fans sit in silence? What if it's not obvious whether it was him or someone else that touched the ball? Sit in silence and wait confirmation it was the other guy before cheering? Or will they just treat him normally? I can imagine a strange atmosphere at first.

I'd be surprised if there's anything particularly unusual about it - they keep talking about these petitions being signed by thousands of fans of {insert club here} when clearly they haven't - it's anyone who objects to him playing full stop (many of which would be completely uninterested in football).

I'd imagine his first goal will be celebrated uproariously, as normal, and I'd not be at all surprised if he gets a decent reception when he runs out for his first home game (from the home fans, at least - the away section will give him Hell)

The guilty verdict does. There was enough evidence to convict him of rape and he has had an appeal rejected.

He is a convicted rapist. Not really sure what you're struggling with here.

I get where you're coming from, but didn't the Guildford 4 and Birmingham 6 also get convicted and lose appeals?

Mistakes happen, sadly.

Personally, I'm fairly sure he's a maggot, but wasn't at the trial, so can't be 100% sure.

If we played Oldham I would give him absolute dogs abuse from first minute to last. Because he would deserve it.
