I'm looking for somewhere that can meet these criteria;

1)Hold at least 400 people
2)Clean and not seedy (Family suitable)
3)Decent location (Central-ish)

Looked at the Treehouse, but too small. Fairfield halls is too big/expensive.

Any suggestions?

What type of event? Depends whether alcohol is involved.

Stanley Halls, South Norwood?
Wallington Public Hall?
Charles Cryer, Carshalton?

Various schools hire out their halls, I believe even the likes of Whitgift or Trinity Schools.

Reborn,
try trinity school(Shirley)
I've painted there on many occasions in the past.
One of the jobs was their own theatre, they also have the main hall which is kitted out with movable chairs & stage type system.
very pukka set up.
The bursar was a Mr.Robin mcKinlay.
speak to him.

Fairfield has The Arnhem Gallery and Ashcroft Theatre too don't forget. Arnhem should be the cheaper option.

You could try the Croydon Conference Centre which is down the market, or Matthews Yard too. Apart from that there really nothing else any more.

EDIT- Oh, and the upstairs of Green Dragon, however I don't think that is big enough for you.

Screamlounge is now limited to one room of only about 100 people.

I agree I don't think the upstairs at the Green Dragon would be big enough. Shame as its a great venue.

Scratching my head to think of one to be honest. Problem with schools etc is that you would need to apply to Croydon Council for a entertainment license and have a meeting with the Licensing Unit at Croydon Police Station to make sure your a fit and proper person to hold a music event etc etc.

Does it have to be in Croydon Reborn??

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

you can hire out the old whitgiftians

chroham hurst is a bit snooty(my old club)

Farley court should be big enough.

Thanks guys, I shall check some of these out.

Its a church event but very contemporary in nature, soul, funk, jazz singers, some rappers as well. We have some incredible artists in the church (MOBO award singers etc)

We need a bar, and ideally family friendly licensing.

Arnhem might be good.

Definitely try the Croydon Conference Centre then, they quite often put on things of that nature.

Settled on the old fav, Fairfeild Halls in the end, central, family friendly, big bar etc.

Not cheap but well worth it I think.
