As for the rapid appearance of new species in the fossil record, this isn't necessarily disproval of evolution either, it would be kind of what you would expect to see when there was significant 'environmental changes', which would see the more rapid development of species with traits that are now beneficial. Remember that a species and its traits are not fixed, and traits develop randomly, provided they are not detrimental, they survive in a species.

You can see this in the 'Dinosaur extinction'. The rapid drop in surface temperatures, made large, cold blooded reptiles poorly suited to the now sparse, rapidly cooling environment (Mammals expend about 60% of their energy from food maintaining a body temperature - where as reptiles rely on external heat).

Where as small mammals were now much 'fitted', allowing them to rapidly develop due to the accelerating demise of the reptile species that previously dominated. Consequently the population of mammals expands rapidly, and variations in these now benefical traits spreads throughout the species, combining with other traits in the species (a species that has reduced predators and increased dominance of food sources breeds rapidly).

Remember that a lot of species, like the mammals of the pre-ice age eras, were further down the food chain and one of the most prevalent means of combating the 'Your for Dinner effect' is to produce off spring in numbers and rapidly - which has to be evolved out of the species itself (slow birth traits as they become benefical proliferate).

You'd expect to see this to some degree in any kind of environmental factor (bursts of development, rather than a slow and steady progress). Changes in the factors outside the species are as important, if not more important than the development of traits.

Evidence for this can be seen in how species of animals population rates change in accordance to environmental factors.

Remember the fastest cheetah isn't necessarily the best cheetah. Likewise, the fastest strongest hunter is largely rendered irrelivent by the bloke who thinks of farming.

The religious are innately inferior.

I don't know about 'inferior', but I share anyone's disdain for 'religiousness', as it was these types of people (the Pharasees etc) that opposed and got Our LORD Jesus Christ crucified. These 'religious' types exist today even posing as Christians and still oppose Jesus (He is resurrected and alive through His Body the Universal Church).

So, I am happy that you oppose religiousness, as it is a personal relationship with the risen Christ you need for life and salvation, which you can only receive by faith, by saying sorry for your sins, making a decision to turn away from sin, and asking him to forgive you.

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

A careful study of the above words of Jesus show that:
1. A personal relation with Jesus is needed, and
2. Many Christians, even ones that perform miracles, won't be saved without a personal relationship with Jesus.

So, pleased to see you don't like 'religiousness' as neither do true, born again, believers.

Personal testimony: I was homeless and destitute in 1984, been in and out of jail, addicted to booze and p***. was semi-literate (f@ck) was my most used word, then one day for a religious kick I decided to go to confessional (RC though I am not a RC now), and when I started listing off my sins to God, suddenly God filled me up with love and light and took away a huge load I didn't know I had. It was so real and physical an experience I think I exclaimed an expletive. I heard millions of angels singing like CPFC had just won the FA cup. I have never been the same since. I now am a teacher, my Christian wife is a scientist, my 3 boys are all Christian. My life of sin has turned around and I speak to Jesus anytime I want and I know his voice when he speaks to me.

How did the above happen? I humbled myself, asked a God I wasn't sure existed to forgive me, and God rushed to hug and restore me.

There are plenty of decent religious and spiritual people. So many aspects feed into a persons outlook and character whether they are religious or not. To pluck belief out and state that the person is then inferior is a rather foolish statement.
