Thought I'd start a new one rather than tag it on to the Pietersen discussion.

So... Australia England to open the tournament tonight, and that prick from Yorkshire has done his bit for team spirit by giving his tuppence worth about the England skipper...

I don't hold out much hope for England's prospects but please god, anyone but Australia.

I wonder if the Saffers will choke again?

Hopefully the PR stunt by some 'stralian betting company will backfire spectacularly and 90,000, mostly, Aussies go home from the MCG heartbroken, on Valentine's day.

Optimistic as ever

Enjoying the fact that India look truly awful.

I do think england are starting to look like a team again just in time (not in the Aus/NZ/SA class yet, but certainly capable of beating any of the other nations).

I think we'll all be bored before it finally limps into the knockout stages - this format is very long and almost guaranteed to see all the minnows go out

Before expelling them from any future tournaments.

They should have had 2 more teams, and 4 groups.

Is there DRS in this one or have the Indians blocked it again?

Australia have to be the favourites to win and the bookmakers price of 2/1 is quite generous. South Africa always flop on the big stage and you can never under-estimate Sri Lanka who have a very effective one day side. England don't have much of a chance and will be relying on Jos Buttler for the runs.

Hopefully they'll learn how to bloody use it properly and stop objecting to it in future.

I'd like to see the back of these farcical decisions in every series they play.

Cheers moose. Common sense has prevailed. And totally agree stuk. In fact, I think India should be forbidden from referring anything until they sign up to it properly. And a last-ball on-field howler from the umpire sends them crashing out in the group stages.
