Dear All,

Thank you for your valued imput into a very unpleasant situation,I can assure, you ,not of my making.

A few days ago, because of my wife's health, we have temporarily moved into a flat we own, where the previous tenant vacated, to get some peace and a period of reflection.

Went back to the bungalow yesterday to collect a few items.Had only been on the scene for a few minutes and the most appalling hammering started.

Being on my own, without my wife to calm me down,I knocked on his door and accused him of deliberately targeting me, whenever,I use my own garage for ,particularly exercise purposes. He totally rejected my allegation, saying that he is simply chopping fire wood.

Explained to him that I know this noise solely starts, whenever I use my treadmill and when my wfe and I are about to sit down and eat and has gone on throughout the year, even in the Summer months, when nobody burns fires.Incidentally, he does not even often have a fire as I would immediate see and smell it.

Suffice to say, I told him one or two home truths and far from helping the situation, they now appear an awful lot worse and I wonder aboutthis next step and how future events will unfold.

Kind regards.

Hows about giving him a knock and civilly explaining to him your position and how you feel he has been behaving, giving clear examples and letting him know the detrimental affect it has had on your wife's health, so much so that you now feel that you can't live next door, and see how the nicely, nicely approach goes, being the bigger man/charm offensive, if you will? You never know it might even be reciprocated.

I always find a measured approach first is good for ones own sanity, just to make sure that you're not the one being unreasonable. And then if he throws that back in your face you have a full license to blow your fuse and start acting like a cnut back.

Stay in your flat and rent out your bungalow ...he's bound not to like that. Perhaps you could spend some time abroad and chill out? Refreshed and reinvigorated you may see things very differently when you get back.

How about a beer afterwards??

Convert to Islam, and take up boiling pans of water with the windows open at night. Also make sure to occasionally ask if you can borrow some nail polish remover or some bleach, as you 'just keep running out'.

In view of some of the very valued comments I have received, for which I am very grateful, feel it relevant to make you aware that following a period of not speaking to my neighbour, I did knock on his door and speak to them at length in an entirely conciliatory tone to the effect that life was too short for all this unnecessary nonsense and time to live in peace and harmony, side by side and they appeared at the time very pleased at my kindly approach.

However, after a few days, the targeted hammering whenever we were sitting down to eat at lunchtime ,or when I entered my garage to exercise, continued, right up unt the time we removed ourselves to our flat.

Thank you all for your comments and lets hope we get 3 points on Saturday !!

Kind regards,

J

Jacey - I lived next door to a nutter once. You, personally, can't change them no matter what approach you take and I implemented all the above suggestions. They are usually deeply unhappy individuals who project their problems onto others.

I think it may be best if you accept that and make future decisions with regard to it.

Stay strong and sort it somehow.

I was thinking more of jobs you do when you're not feeling very well. Like a loft extension or some landscape gardening.
