I have no idea whether Sir Cliff'll is innocent or guilty as sin and given the alleged levels this goes up to whether any full and unhindered investigation is even possible.

The one sure thing is that both the Elm and Dolphin allegations need investigations to test their voracity

It would be brilliant of they were all bollocks and just the unfounded and untrue allegations by chancers because that would mean that the gang rape (and worse) of potentially hundreds of children didn't take place.

The police have, it seems, linked him to at least two different allegations, as well as the long running association with Elm Guest house, which catered to keeping the proclivities of paedophiles secret (the Sparticus group part of the Paedophile Exchange Network used the place a lot - a number of whom would end up convicted of sex offences against children).

However Elm Guest house was also popular among gay men, in an era when homosexuality was 'a very serious issue'. I'd always imagined that Cliff fitted into this group (after all, if at the height of his career it had come out that he was gay, that would have ended his career back then - ironically paedophiles were more tolerated than gay people it seems).

Of course its a shock, but then so was Mr Harris and Stuart Hall, both iconic British presenters and entertainers. But just because its a shock, or because your a fan, doesn't mean he isn't capable of these allegations. If recent history has taught us anything.

Time will tell, I guess. But those convicted recently, also maintained their innocence and denied absolutely the 'abhorrent charges' and deflected the focus on to the maliciousness and financial goals of their victims.

I was basing my comments on Jamie's post. Of course it going without saying that everyone shown to be involved in abuse should be locked up for a very, very long time.

I don't know about Dolphin Square, but Elm Guest House was definitely popular with gay men as it had a reputation for discretion.

It wasn't exclusively a child raping establishment - It catered for groups. Whilst a lot of the modern focus is on the use of the venue by paedophile groups such as the Sparticus group, it does seem that the venue was rented out and used by groups because of its discretion.

This made it popular with young gay men as a meeting place. The site is fairly large, and it was a legitimate business (not all of its guests were gay or paedophiles either). More it seems that groups met there.

I'm no fan of Cliff, I think he's a Christmas merchant of the worst order.

However, the fact that the police are making aspects of the investigation public without leting him know does strike me as being an injustice.

I wonder how you or I would feel if we were being treated in this way?
